Nova hade never felt so at hom as she did here, this cave, these lands, the horses around here.. It just felt good. Hoss hade been right; the Yacare Mire had everything she needed, and more. And it would soon get another member. Her belly had started to grow and it was obvious that she was pregnant, with Hoss' foal. She believed it would be safe to be born here, maybe not in this cave, but in the mire, as soon as she had found a place to give birth at, she didn't want too many spectators after all, but she didn't know this place too well yet, but it was quite a bit to go yet.
As she flickered her white tipped ears she stod at the entrance of the cave, just looking out over the mire, enjoying the view. At a first glance, not so many would say it was a beautiful one, but if you looked closely, you could see all sort of life there. Alligators, birds, lizards, insects, splashing fishes in the water, it was quite bountiful. The last itch of her winter coat had recently come off, and she was happy for that, now the shine was back in her red and white coat, with every little white birdcatcher spot visivle. Some of them almost disappaered during winter when her coat went thick. Not now. She was healthy and pregnant, and proud of it.

A whistle on his lips, Hostetler was eager to reach the Safehouse. He'd always lived either there, or at least near there. It was home to him and he hoped it felt the same to his herd. Unlike other territories where a lead could watch his mares graze in a field from a higher perch, the Mire proved to be one where Hoss had to move constantly to check up on everyone. Though, it wasn't like he didn't believe in them enough to let them be alone when they wanted to be. They were all strong mares and he trusted them to take good care of themselves in this precious time.
Hostetler couldn't stop smiling as he trotted through the warming marshlands. Soon he would have little ones romping just as he'd imagined just weeks before. His two-toned tail flipped this way and that, brushing his rump and sides as he paraded his way deeper into his homeland.
The stallion slowed a little upon sighting the haven. It could only be made more spectacular by the presence of one of his lovely herd mares - Nova. She was such a sight to see. His grin widened.
"Well now, No-vah! Lookit'chu!" His blue and brown eyes brightened upon spying the glow of a pregnant mare's countenance. She was happy and that was all he wanted for her. The gleaming coat protruded a little farther than it had when last they'd met and Hoss knew he was to blame for that. "You look like you jus' won da gran' prize!"
