Hihiri during springtime had always been a favourite for her, she absolutely loved it and would probably always do. She had been raised as an island mare, but she had just recently returned from a little trip to the mainlands, but she had realized that it was nothing for her, she liked the islands better, much better. Since the only thing with her that was mutated, was her eyes, rich in their midnight blue color, she had always felt like every other horse, she didn't let it stop her from being normal. Or.. well.. as normal as she could be, her personality had always been a little odd and she never tried to hide that fact. She was the kind of personality that you either loved or hated, just because she shifted so much in her moods. Most of the times she was as happy as ever and very affectionate, loved to cuddle, care and play. The other times.. well, she could be very odd at those times, it couldn't be explained, you had to experience it.
But today she felt.. normal. With a little flicker of her white ears she stopped at the edge of the waterfalls and looked at the beautiful pool of water that the waterfalls ended in. Her bi-colored coat seemed a little odd too, like someone had started to paint her black, missing her leg and part of the chest. Mane and tail was long and luscious, silvery white in color, matching the white marking on her body, and the white markings in her face. She had a small, agile body, elegant and fragile, but still.. wild of some sort.

The young stallion threw his head up in the air. He heard someone, or something approaching. He'd been taking a nap in a nice sheltered roomy overhang near the waterfalls. Tukutuku was by far his favorite place on the islands. It was so beautiful, and he never grew tired of exploring it. Then again he never really grew bored of exploring anywhere come to think of it. The flowing water and openness found here also kept the air fresh though, and kept away the smell of decaying vegetation and whatever away for the most part. Beryl couldn't stand the smell of decay.
Ears pricked forward, rotating only to catch other sounds. He resisted the urge to swat at some bugs, and just shivered his skint to get rid of them. Bugs, another thing he really, really disliked. He inched forward as stealthily as he could to peer out from behind the curtain of hanging vines and moss that concealed him. Peering out with one dark brown eye he caught a glimpse of another horse. He relaxed. It wasn't something threatening. Hihiri belonged to no one, so even if it was a tribe member, they weren't a threat to him here. When his mother had taken him to the other two islands, she always emphasized the need to avoid coming in contact with the herds that lived there. According to her they would be run off the island or worse. Though she had never explained what worse was.
He sniffed at the breeze that blew his way, and caught their scent - her scent. The breeze also stirred the vines enough that he got a decent look at the stranger, and he promptly lost his breath. He had never seen a mare so beautiful, so stunning. She looked like she was either black and had been painted with white or had been white and almost completely painted with black. Either way the resulting contrast was striking. Perhaps she really wasn't that beautiful, or maybe she was. Beryl hadn't had much contact with others besides his mother, and he was starting to grow up.
He was still pretty well hidden in his nap spot, and he didn't want to be caught spying on this pretty mare. He wanted to meet her - he loved meeting others. He backed up quietly and slipped out from underneath the overhang on the other side of a large clump of trees and bushes. He still hadn't really filled out yet and didn't have the broad chest and shoulders that he would someday have. He had quite a bit of growing to do still. Probably within the next half a year or so he'd no longer be able to quietly leave his preferred napping spot. From his narrow exit he made his way towards the pools, picking his way with less care for silence than his mother would have allowed. In other words, he moved with the same care as a normal horse would when they felt safe and secure. He emerged from the jungle foliage across one of the shelves the water pooled on before flowing on and down into the lagoon. He didn't have to try to hard to feign mild surprise at seeing another horse there. Her breathtaking beauty hit him all over again. It was probably a little bit obvious, but he didn't let that bother him. He appreciated her beauty, and if she had a problem with that, well then oh well. Beyrl wasn't one to lie.
G'afternoon miss. Lovely spring day ain't it? he called across to her as he came to a halt at the edge of the water. He dropped his head and took a quick drink from the cool water. Lips dripping slightly he looked back up at her, ears attentive, eyes alight with friendly curiosity.

Coralie didn't notice that there were anyone here yet, she was so into her thoughts that she didn't notice the young stallion peering out from his little hideout. She lowered her head to slowly drink from the fresh water, as she felt the breeze pick up her white mane and tail to let it dance in the wind behind her a little. It had a nice cooling effect and she really liked it, it helped to push away some of the more.. unpleasant smells. As she stood so calm and thoughtful, slowly drinking, she didn't know about the thoughts that went through the stallions head, she had no idea that someone actually thought her beautiful at this moment. She knew her markings were a bit odd, she had heard that before, but she liked out. She was standing with self confidence right now, so when the stallion walked out from his hideout and walked towards her, stopping a little to her left, she raised her head just a little bit from the waters surface, water dripping from her muzzle, to look at him.
She raised her head the full way and looked at him, her ears pricked forward towards him, with curiosity shining through the dark blue eyes. It was obvious that he was a young stallion, but he sure was handsome, she couldn't argue with that. "Indeed it is. Who might I have the pleasure talking to?" She asked and flickered her tail for a second before she forgot about that, and held it still, to not spread the sweet smell further.

Beryl noticed quite quickly the curiosity in the painted mare's eyes. He was glad of it, though he kept that to himself. Her eyes....he had never seen eyes that shade of blue before. It suited her, with her unusual and striking markings.
"Indeed it is. Who might I have the pleasure talking to?" Well she was friendly so far. This was good. Beryl really liked meeting others who were friendly. As she asked her question he caught a brief whiff of...something. He wasn't sure what it was, though oddly enough it had smelled good somehow. A small surge of blood went somewhere he had never had a blood surge too before. He felt kinda...odd. Well this was mildly confusing. He didn't show any sign of his confusion though. If there had been one thing his mother disliked it was confusion. He learned very early on to just suck it up if he didn't understand or was confused with anything around his mother. The habit of not displaying confusion just carried over to everyone else he met, though he would ask questions to clarify with them. He shook his head to both clear it a bit and more importantly rid his ears of some of those dang bugs.
"I'm Beryllos, miss, but you can call me Beryl." He bobbed his head with his introduction. "And what name does one put to such a stunning lady as yourself"? He almost stuttered on the compliment. He felt a little nervous about being so bold with a stranger. Yet the rush was exhilarating. If there was anything the blue colt loved more than exploring, it was doing new things, pushing the boundaries of what he had already done.

It was actually surprising to see that this stallion, despite being obviously younger than her, was bigger than her. Not by much, but it was clear that he was still growing and filling up. He was handsome, and he would become rather stunning himself when he grew up. She was unaware of the confusion he felt, even though he must be quite inexperienced when it came to what this smell meant and all that sort of things, because he didn't even flinch at it, so maybe he didn't... feel it? The thought of it actually made her smile a little.
The little compliment he gave her, the stutter and all, made her smile too, and she actually liked it so much that she would have blushed if a horse was able to. It made her feel special in more than that odd way, and it was great actually, she was the joker, the one who made others smile, so often, that she had almost forgotten how it was to actually be charmed by a stallion, it hadn't happened since she was young. Or rather, younger. She wasn't so old now either. "I'm Coralie. It's very nice to meet you Beryllos." She said softly and walked a little closer to him, but she was still very careful and graceful in he movements, but curious. She stretched her neck a little a let her muzzle touch his should a little while she breathed in his smell.

He returned her smile with his own slightly crooked one. Well, his bold move had gone over well. He liked making others smile. Smiling meant they were happy, and that they weren't angry with him. Smiles meant a possibility of doing something interesting, and not being put in lock down and not being able to go anywhere or do anything. Not that he had been put in lock down for about a year now. Mom wasn't alive to do that anymore. The association though between no smiles and being restricted was still strong in his mind though. He hadn't had enough interaction with other horses to modify the habits and views he had from before Azuralis died.
"I'm Coralie. It's very nice to meet you Beryllos." Coralie....an exquisite name for an exquisite mare. She had called him by his full name. He wasn't used to that. It sounded so...so fancy. He wasn't sophisticated or knew much of the world. He was a simple young boy who lived a very simple, very sheltered life. Beryllos was a name that belonged to somebody who had seen the world, someone who had been places and done things worth relating. Beryl was plenty good enough for him; Beryllos was much too fancy for a boy like him.
She had come closer to him. She moved like she was lighter than air and fluid like water. At least, that's how it looked to the naive blue stallion. She stretched out and just barely touched his shoulder. It felt like he'd received an electric shock; electricity went racing through his veins. However, it seemed like something that was considered to be normal when meeting someone new, at least to this mare it was normal protocol, so he stretched out his lightly crested neck and just barely touched her shoulder with his white muzzle and breathed in her smell. It seemed to him like that's what she was doing anyways.
He caught a little bit of that smell from earlier, and again the strange rush of blood to his nether regions. The odd feeling intensified a little bit as well. This time though there was something new. He had the strangest urge to butt at her shoulder and nip at it. That couldn't possibly be the right thing to do. That seemed so rude to the logical part of him. But the urge persisted. He pulled his nose away slightly abruptly. A flicker of confusion escaped his careful guard and darted ever so briefly across his face. It wasn't like him to want to bite someone, except when he was trying to get his mom to rough house a little with him. But that had been his mom, he had been extremely familiar with her. The urge at those times also felt much more playful. This urge felt...different. More aggressive maybe. The handful of times he'd gotten to interact with others he'd never had an urge to nip at them - neither playful nor this strange new type. This was growing a little more than just mildly confusing now. At the same time, it was exciting though. It was new territory to him. Beryl loved new things.
"Please, just call me Beryl. I ain't anythan' special. I haven't even really eva had a proper talk with anyone 'cept my Ma 'fore she passed. She liked to keep to jus' us, an' I jus neva really got outta the habit I guess." He shrugged his shoulders a bit. It might seem odd to others that he was telling this mare he just met so much about him, but if Beryl was anything, he was honest. He didn't have anything to hide, and he saw no reason to hide anything. Some might call him simple, and not referring to how he liked to live his life, but even if he knew that he really couldn't care. He might be naive and unsocialized, but he was anything but stupid. Surprisingly though, he wasn't really socially awkward despite his lack of socialization. Beryl was just the type that's completely comfortable with their self and rarely saw any need for much fuss or worrying about things.
Script Length;;691 In the Spotlight;;Beryllos Audience;; Coralie [Thox] Director's Notes;;Muse went esplode for this one. But definitely got a nice chunk of development done on him in this post. He's really starting to grow on me and flesh out. =D

His voice was soft and almost a little embarressed, or confused, about why she said his whole name. But that had been the way he had introduced himself, so why would she use a nickname right away? But now that he mentioned it, and asked her to just say Beryl, then she would call him that, he asked for it. He was kind of cute after all, his reaction when she had almost touched his skin with her muzzle had been a little unexpected though, but if his mother had held him as close as he said she had, then it wasn't that weird really. He must have been quite isolated. She knew for herself that she would never be able to live like that, she loved company and often seeked it out when she felt too lonely.
So far she was in a really good mood, and a flirty one at that. Maybe he was a little young, but she really didn't care, she liked him and he was handsome, and he seemed to be quite polite, compared to others that she had met. "But you're not alone now, you have me." Her voice was all happy and with a little bit of flirt there. Even if he had pulled back his head a little before, she stretched her head forward a little and nipped playfully at his mane before she trotted off a litt bit, wanting him to follow, they could have a little chase. She hoped that he would take the bait, it would certainly lift up the mood a little, because it was almost a little awkward at the moment, and she didn't want that.

"But you're not alone now, you have me." She sounded happy about that to Beryl, but there was another tone to it. He couldn't quite place it. It was definitely friendly, but it seemed to be a different kind of friendly. He didn't really know how to respond, either to the statement she had made or the tone of her voice. All he knew was he liked whatever that unknown tone was, and he really didn't mind having her. It was really nice not to be alone. Not knowing what to say, he just smiled that crooked grin of his at her.
Before he could say anything, she gave him a gentle nip and trotted off. This he could interpret just fine - she obviously wanted to play. He was a bit surprised at that, she seemed older than him. In his experience, older horses had little to no interest in playing. He wasn't going to complain though. With a brief soft laugh of childish glee he trotted after the pretty mare.
He was definitely the heavier built of the two, and he didn't currently have any height on her, but he was a big mover. He easily caught up to her. He collected up his trot, arching his neck slightly and really gathering his hind quarters under him.
Reaching out he tugged at a lock of her mane. Gotcha! He grinned at her and swerved around a tree. Crashing into trees was not pleasant as he had discovered the hard way as a colt. He sped up, maintaining the collection of his frame, and just extending his stride. Last one down to tha lagoon is'a slow poke! he called over his shoulder as he weaved through the trees.

As they started to play with eachother it became more and more clear for her what she was actually doing with him. She wasn't just playing, she was flirting. She was flirting with a stallion younger than her, he hadn't even filled up properly yet! She felt so old thinking like that, so she shook the feeling off and then started to chase him when he hade nipped at her mane and then challenged her to a chase. Not a problem. As he startled off, she did too, following him, picking up greatly in speed. He might be a big mover, but she had the advantage in being more slender, being able to move just as fast as him, or faster. He was heavier, even though he was just as tall as her.
It didn't take long for her before she was at his side, and now she stretched out properly, the hotblood in her taking over with fast, light steps. She was quite delicate after all, built for running and for stamina. Beryl would grow up to be heavy and strong, with agile muscles that would get him almost anywhere he wanted if he just wanted it.
They reached the lagoon with just a little difference, after they had both sick-sacked between the trees to get here. She stopped and let herself slide a little in the sand before she came to a complete stop, then she shook her head with happiness and moved around a few eager steps, like she wanted to run more, but then she looked at him with a smile. "That was fun."

Her slender build gave her a bit of advantage weaving through the trees. Beryl need bigger gaps than Coralie did. He managed to keep pace with her pretty well though. His big stride really helping to even things out.
They both burst out onto the small beach at about the same time. He hadn't really started to slow down before he hit the sand, and he had quite a bit of momentum going. He had to drop his hindquarters a little bit and slid about half a foot before coming to a halt. It didn't really help that they had been going downhill most of the time.
"That was fun." He tossed his head and nodded energetically in agreement. With a mischievous grin he suddenly leapt forward into the water. He landed about knee deep, and created quite a satisfyingly big splash.
"Come in Coralie! Tha water is reel nice." He frolicked about in the very gentle waves of the lagoon, splashing more than making any progress anywhere. His young age was very apparent in his pure carefree glee at playing in the water. It didn't take much to entertain the young blue stallion.
