You'll regret it.
Ginebre had ran after her daughters death, she had ran straight out of Yacare and into the Cognar River. She kept thinking of one thing, escape. She couldn't stay there, couldn't face the guilt that was threatening to swallow her. She had spent the night on the river bank, barely able to pull herself out after rushing head first into it. When she had woken that day, she had thought long and hard on what to do next. She wouldn't, and really couldn't, go back to Yacare but she hadn't found anywhere else to be home for her.
With a heavy heart she had come the edge of the mainland and stood watching the islands until the darkness of night had taken them. With a sigh she knew what she was going to do. Don't, don't look back... But she couldn't help it, she looked back and started to sob. She cried until exhaustion took her.
In the morning she prepared herself by doing a few trial swims, she knew the distance was far and that she would be tired by the end. After steeling her mind against the burden she was leaving behind she dove in and set a mild pace for herself, hoping that would make it easier in the long run.
She didn't know how long it had been when her legs started getting tired, the islands still seemed so far away. She tired not to look back, but after an hour she gave in, and almost freaked out when she saw no land behind her. She was committed now and there was no stopping. After a while longer she noticed she had slowed down, but the islands where so much closer she allowed her tired legs to relax a bit. It was a bad idea though, as she watched the sun slowly dip behind the farthest island, and felt something bump into her.
She let out a whinny of panic and forced her legs to kick harder, just a little farther. She wanted to slow in relief as she passed the reefs but knew better then that now and pushed the last of her energy into reaching the shore. Just before hitting it though her body started to slow and sink under the rising waves. She coughed and choked as water rushed into her gaping mouth, fear starting to make her irrational.
(-Loves on Ginebre so much-)
