The word made his blood hum. The deep purple colored pegasus took in a great breath, before exhaling loudly. The birds sang around him, while a blanket of humid air wrapped itself around him like a comforting blanket. It was as if the island was welcoming him home. He had finally returned, after being gone for so many years. Nothing had changed, much to his satisfaction. The island was still as lively as ever, the weather still warm and pleasurable. The only difference between now and then was the lack of tribe members, but that would change. Mako was sure of it.
Surely the word of Tangaroa’s new chief would spread with time.
It was strange for the stallion to think of himself as the new Chief of Tangaroa. He had never entirely considered himself fit to lead others; he had always been quite content to let others carry out the rule enforcing. He had always been happier following command. However, things had changed once he had returned to the islands and had started a new family. With everything in a state of disarray, Mako knew it was time for him to step up and take control of the situation. He had, and now Tangaroa was his. His family now had a home of their own – they no longer had to hide on Hihiri. His children had a place to flourish and grow. While he disliked the route he had to take to get here, the result was well worth the trials he had endured.
He was home, and now his family could come home, too.

Spring was beginning to waver under the imposing heat of summer in most of the territories today, but the islands enjoyed clear, blue skies this morning. The flamingo-esque mare made it her duty today to remain close to Mako. He'd become chief of the island and she had borne his first set of children, so that gave her some rights, right? Dolie, upon sighting Mako's deep purple coat, pranced toward him, happy as a clam. She couldn't imagine a more pleasant place to live or more pleasant horses to live with - her family.
"Beautiful morning, Mako," she said upon approaching the much larger equine. Her children had grown quite large by now and were perfectly capable of taking care of themselves now, much to Dolie's dismay. The pegasus missed having foals following her, flapping their young wings and letting out happy little whinnies and snorts. Vakasa and Rika were wonderful specimens now, each superb fliers and unparalleled in handsomeness and beauty. As Dolie looked to Mako's eyes, she couldn't thank him enough for the joys he'd given her. Without him, she might still have been living as a mirage under the reign of Risque.
Dolie took a chance and nuzzled Mako's neck a little, happy to have him beside her.
OOC: SO SORRY.

It seemed like yesterday he could stand here and watch his beautiful, healthy children prance around in the sand in sun, trying to outdo one another as they struggled to fly. It felt like a distant memory, even though Vakasa and Rika were not as old as Mako felt they were. Granted, Mako could now stand and watch as his vibrantly colored daughter took to the sky to scout out a school of fish for lunch, but she was no longer small – nor was Vakasa. His twin children didn’t need him anymore. They were becoming successful adults in their own right; which was both a proud and terrifying thought.
His thoughts were stalled when Dolie’s voice reached him, drawing him out of his reverie. Turning slightly, the older stallion gave nodded. “A grand morning. Though I predict today will get quite hot,” he replied, his amber eyes casting a glance up at the clear sky. Mako could feel the transition from spring to summer coming, for the rising temperatures gave it away easily. He could only hope it wouldn’t be a rough summer for the islands this year. The soft touch of Dolie against his neck did little to faze the stallion; he gave her a warm smile in response. “Dolie, I have something to ask of you,” he spoke suddenly, interrupting the lull of silence. Of the few times where he felt nervous about what he was to say, this was one of those times. “We’ve been here for some time, and you have given me the great gifts that any stallion could ask for...Would you do me the honor of ruling beside me, as Chieftess of Tangaroa?”

His request was startling, awe-inspiring. Dolie knew Mako was king of Tangaroa now, but she'd never thought of herself as queen material. The thought frightened her, but at the same time, she was ecstatic to have been asked. Dolie had dreamed of having someone to spend the rest of her life with; did she have that now?
The coral pegasus could not keep her jaw shut as her ears fell back and her blond eyes looked up into his own. "What a gracious offer!" she said, softly but excitedly. Her gaze jumped down to the ground as she thought about what to say. Was she cut out to rule a land alongside him? It would certainly be new for a land to be ruled by two pegasi, but Dolie knew it could be done if Mako was one of them. Perhaps she could...as well?
Her thoughts jumped to her children. Vakasa and Rika were already prince and princess, as children of the king. Dolie was the one in question. Without a formal request, as he was doing now, Dolie would simply be a herd mare. Mako apparently held her in higher regard than that. She was forever grateful...
"Of course I will, dear Mako." Her voice was soft and her cheeks were warm as she rested her head beside his neck.
"I love you."
