- Ginebre and Vela Llum
This was all wrong, every single thing. It was all Ginebre could think about as her ever growing stomach started to ache with contractions. She shouldn't have asked Hoss to give her a foal, she shouldn't have even come to the mire. Even though everyone had been nice and welcoming, Gine just felt so out of place. She scoffed as she remembered that she couldn't even get into the cave they used as a shelter. She had spent the entire summer out in the open, and it just made her feel worse.
As the pains got worse she stood from her resting place beside the cave and looked longingly into the opening, then sighed and began to make her way towards the common grounds. She hadn't made up her mind if she wanted to leave or not, but she was at least going to give herself options. Just as the ground started to harden the pains got so bad that she had to stop.
After what felt like hours the pain finally stopped and Ginebre arose and looked at the small filly laying next to her. A strong feeling of love and motherly instinct took hold of her and she deliberately cleaned the girl then stepped back to look again. Her daughter was staring calmly at her, which shocked Gine. She had expected her to look... well, less wise and all knowing then she did. In fact Gine would have easily mistaken those eyes to be from a horse getting on in age.
She stood awestruck as the filly got up and walked toward her like nothing could be easier, the only thing to suggest she was just learning was a tiny stumble on her way over. Ginebre shook her head trying to clear the fog of surprise that had settled there. The filly bumped her side eagerly and Gine turned to watch her once more, she had the curliest red hair Gine had ever seen. She didn't want to take her eyes off of her daughter but she pried them away and looked around in the early morning light.
Hoss would surely be up by now and checking on everyone, in her heart she knew it would be wrong to leave without saying goodbye, or at least letting him see his daughter. Though a part of her felt like he didn't care that much to see her. She shook her head once more, all of this was just too complicated. She turned and nuzzled the red filly before deciding to head back to the herd, the filly looked at her with those strange brown eyes and then fell into step beside her.
