Hostetler was beginning to feel the aches of old age.
He never thought he'd get there but after running all day, he was bound to feel some repercussions. His muscles tensed beneath his skin as he slowed to a brisk trot. The stallion was headed toward the Safehouse to visit with his family after doing his daily rounds. By now the sun had almost set completely and his famous smile was beaming at the thought of seeing his mares and foals. Hoke and Roux were getting pretty big... Perhaps he would need to take them out to show them what he did every day soon. Odelia was such a sweetheart, the little thing. Hoss was so proud to be a grandsire already. He didn't care if it made him feel old. He was so proud of his oldest daughter. Molinere would certainly be around too, the strapping young lad. The swamp horses were known for their unique coats and boy did Mol have one to speak of. He was bound to, with an uncle like Hoss and a mother like Mini.
Hostetler slowed to a stop to take a bite of spanish moss that hung from a cypress. A snack always felt better than going home on an empty stomach.
OOC: <33 I missed this boy.

The last year had been a rough one for the gentle mare. Ever since visiting the mire she had a feeling that her heart belonged there. She had tried to push these thoughts aside and continue her exploration of the world, but she found the last reaches of the mainland too hot for her to really venture into. So she had tried to find somewhere she would be happy to settle down in. Her mind had jumped instantly to the mire, but she had tried to keep her options open. In the end though the call of Yacare was too much and she had happily begun a trek to the sticky, stinky swamp.
Ginebre didn't know what to expect as she went deeper in, Hoss had warned her about the alligators and other predators that stalked the swamps. She had definitely stayed out of the deeper water and tried to avoid it whenever possible. Now she found herself, well, hopelessly lost. She hadn't thought it would be this hard to find where the swamp king kept his herd, or at least to run into another horse. She looked around in the dimming light with fear starting to creep through her when she saw a flash of familiar chestnut and white coat.
Ginebre called out in excitement and trotted quickly to the stallions side. Then a shyness came over her and she stopped, there meeting was so short last time she didn't know if Hoss would remember her. Shaking the feelings away she moved a little closer," Hello, I don't know if you remember me, we met last winter." Ginebre still felt unsure and it showed.

Champing away on his midday snack, Hoss flicked an ear toward Ginebre as she approached, his head following in turn. Swallowing with a wide smile, he replied: "'Lo, Miss Gee-nay! A'course Ah remember yuh!"
The chimeric leader swished his tail back and forth, letting it fall on the coldblood's back for a moment in a sort of playful greeting. She was unique. Her stature was unlike the others' in the swamp and he commended her for it. Lovely, she was. Ginebre also sported long feathers that some would call unfitting for such a location, but Hoss admired them greatly. He often marveled in what made mares so beautiful and Ginebre had more than just feathers. She was a kind soul with innocent intentions. Belle.
The stallion nipped her behind the ear, thankful for his own height not to have to reach too far. For a coldblood, she was a reasonable height.
"'Ow could Ah fuhget?"

Gine felt relief wash over her as Hoss turned to her in a friendly and welcoming manner. She smiled and nipped playfully at his shoulder as he walked over. She was happy she wasn't as easy to forget as she had been leading herself to think. "Its nice to see you again, Hoss." She hadn't thought when she left last time that she would be seeing the odd colored stallion again, though she had strong feelings for him. Her eyes drifted over to meet his then darted away, she wanted to know how he felt about her, but she felt it might be improper to ask. " How have you been this last year?" Instead of asking the question that was dieing to jump from her vocals, she tried to busy herself with pleasantries. Unable to keep her mouth from spilling she moved slowly to groom Hoss, fearful that he would tell her no.
(Sorry this is so short, and so late. This moment of Ginebre got away from me when Vela was born)
