The black mare knew her fate, and she had gone electric with anticipation as the date approached. Now, as she walked off and away from the grove that held her very life and rule, the small wicked smile she'd carried the first day she'd returned was sneaking across her velvet lips. A glance in Galadriel's direction confirmed her smile, as her lighter colored sister smiled back, nuzzling the small child sleeping before her. Victoria eyes brightened and returned to the task at hand. She could feel her sides beginning to ripple and contract, but the muscles where still moving slowly in the cool night air. They didn't slow her down as she left the comfort of home to find the private comfort of the mother's arms. The moon was full and comforting in itself, becoming a beacon for the laboring mare as she made her way. It wouldn't be long now, and the world would be changed. The future would be moldable through the child that was to come.

Motherhood is said to come naturally by some, others tell another story entirely. Victoria wasn't entirely sure what she felt as she licked the small shivering colt that was lying next to her. She did what she was supposed to, what nature told her to do, but the mothering feeling she had deep deep in her heart, felt warped in a way. It wasn't the mothering feeling Galadriel so obviously felt, and it wasn't the emotional roller coaster Caiaphas continued to go through with his child. Victoria couldn't get over the overwhelming feeling that her child was going to be shaped, by Annas just as much as by herself. The child was planned, not created. His purpose for life was a sort of deal between his parents. And yet Victoria's heart tugged in the complete opposite direction as the child became dry and beautiful in his own unique way.
Victoria stretched her front legs out, carefully so as not to hurt the colt she'd just birthed. She quickly rose, her tail swishing and her head beginning a full body shake. Her sudden explosion of movement sent the newborn into a fit of his own movement on the ground below her. He was frightened, and of his own mother. A very wise move for one so young, considering his mother's current confused mental state. She lowered her slightly darker muzzle to his forelock, mouthing it in as reassuring a gesture as she could muster without throwing her motherhood conflict into overdrive.
The colt continued its natural newborn-ness for lack of a better word, as Victoria stood silently over it, her thoughts in disarray. She wanted to be a good mother, she wanted to be better then her own mother, and the mother's of her siblings. Yet that all too familiar, wicked voice in the back of her head kept telling her about the plan. It whispered about Annas, and their non-relationship rule over the mountains. She twitched at the unromantic thought that she'd once romanticized. It was as if the child was making her rethink her entire life, and everything it meant. Lowering her head once more, Victoria looked directly in the newborns eyes, breathing in his scent as he did the same. We're going to be alright, child. She confirmed what she needed to confirm. You will be king, Eli, and everything will be alright.
The colt stared back at his mother, the bright fire of life burning deep inside of his pupils. When she mused his name, the colt reached out to nibble her nose as if he had some idea about his life to come, and the role his mother was going to play in it. She snorted in his face as his teeth brushed her flesh, but instead of scaring, as he had earlier, the baby rose to his feet and protested his mother's harsh reaction in his own unique way, denying her power over his soul once and for all.
