He was content; more than content, really. His herd had begun to grow as time had passed and the dunes seemed to be stabilized under his attentive care. The cool weather that Spring had brought with it had only seemed to make his good mood better, for it had become a rare sight to see the stallion as anything less than content. More often than not, he was seen with his characteristic grin splayed across his white muzzle. He was still happy with the current state current state of things in Saraph. How could he not be? He was a father of a healthy son who was approaching his second year, he had a close knit and loyal herd, and Mother Nature seemed to smile down upon them and had graced them with a good season.
The stallion came to a stop on the top of a dune, his blue eyes looking out onto the stretch of sand before him. Night time had become one of his favorite times in Saraph. Without the sun, the dunes were quite pleasant. On top of that, there wasn’t a tree in sight, which allowed the stars to shine bright in the deep blue velvet sky.
This is where he belonged; he could feel it deep in his heart and bones.

She didn't know how, but somehow she had managed to carry through the last years hardship. Ever since her mate and her daughter had disappeared, she had waited for them to come back. She had waited for months, but now since a new king hade taken over the Nombeko Plains, she had started to wander, unwilling to accept the new stallion. Her feet had carried her here, to the Dunes. Maybe she could find a new home here? A new future? She was glad that the sun had finally settled and the moon risen, she was still unused to the heat, and it would take a while before she would get accustomed to it. The black mare continued to walk, her black coat with it's white brindling being a starch contrast to the sunkissed sand, that almost looked like snow in this light. Mimi had yet to notice the chestnut stallion upon his hill of sand, she was too.. stuck, in her own mind and memories. She longed back to her daughter, her dearest little daughter, but nothing could give her back to her, and she knew she had forget, it was just hard to accept that she was probably dead by now. She was rarely the one who mourned or was sad, but it would always be hard to loose a daughter or son, for everyone that had a heart at least.
Soon enough she saw something in the corner of her eye and it made her stop and turn her head, in the belief that it was just a hallucination. It was a while since she had had the opportunity to drink anything, so it wouldn't surprise her if she would be imagining things now at night too. To her surprise, no matter how many times she blinked, the chestnut and white stallion was still there.
