Over that year Tren had slowly let go of his want for revenge and had accepted a calm life in the common ground with his best friend Keku. Now the two were resting by the lake after a long day, Keku was chest deep in the water with his eyes half closed enjoying the cooling effect it had. Tren was lying on the bank watching him, feeling happier and calmer then he had in most of his life. Trens ears flicked back as heard a twig snapped. Tren jumped to his feet and watched as a massive scarred stallion walked slowly toward him. Tren looked back at Keku who was moving to stand by his shorter friend. The Stallion had a look of hate when he saw how small Tren was, and instead addressed Keku," I am the new king of Nombeko, I was looking for someone strong to help me lead the land." Keku looked at the king strangely then lowered his head so that Tren could talk to him. The poor stallions voice had been ruined last year and now the loudest he could muster was a horas whisper," I dont like him Keku, and I know he doesn't like me." The King watched as this happened with an odd curiosity, then Keku returned to him," Trencat and I ask why you want us, there must be plenty of other, as you say strong, stallions around?" The King thought for a moment then replied," I want you because I have looked for the past season and found no one worth my time but you." He seemed confident in his answer and sure he had won the tall draft over, but Keku had seen the tension rise in Trens smaller body. Tren was one to anger fast and lash out in a deadly fashion and Keku knew better then to try and stop him when he entered one of these states. Trencat glared daggers at the taller stallion, both had been in fights too numerous to count, and now they were about to get in another. Tren let out a terrible screech and lunged forward biting at the stallions chest and legs. The King reared up in surprise at Trens attack but immediately countered and grazed Tren with his massive front hooves. Keku watched with slight amusement as Tren ran circles around the king, while the king could barely get a hit on him. It was looking like Tren would win when the king got a grip on his neck and bit down hard making Tren yelped in agony. Keku growled and rammed into the other stallion forcing him to let go. Tren wasn't done yet, he scramble to his feet and tried to lunge after the stallion, but Keku got in his way," Enough Tren, this 'king' is a fool if he doesn't get your point." The king was bleeding from several place and looked exhausted," I want you both." Tren nodded and Keku said," We accept."
