Even though she had no plans of joining any herd again for a while, she still had a close eye to both of the herds, just watching them from a distance, so she was aware of all the rumors about the new heirs and mares and drama. Little birds had chirped in her ears. Walked around the Ngohi Shallows, she took a good look in every little pool that she walked past, just to see if there were any interesting things in there, but she had yet to see anything that could catch her attention. It ended up being a fish who caught her attention, a bright colored fish, blue and yellow, and black, that swam around in the little pool she looked down in. It looked so lonely, cut off from the rest of the world, contained in this little pool for the time being, until the tide cam again to sweep it out to the sea again.
She wasn't hard to spot, even though it was quite the early morning yet, and not bright sunlight, she was easy to see walking around the pools. Her blue roan coat with white and black mane and tail, and white markings along with the darker zebra stripes. Although one of her most noticeable features was the golden eyes, like molten gold melted into her eyes, with some faint fleck of blue in them. But she was very gentle, and it showed in her eyes. Shy, gentle, and never cruel. This was a lady that didn't know how to be cruel to another, nor mean. She wasn't brought up that way, and even though she was a little shy, she was still very loving if you could come through the walls of her heart.

He had made himself at home on Kahukura, but could not resist his natural curiosity. He took frequent trips to the other islands, exploring them as much as he could before the sun went down for the day. He always returned back to Kahukura like a dutiful herd member, but by the next morning, he was out again, exploring the new world he had entered. He wanted to know everything there was about the islands; to understand how the natives, who accepted him both openly and begrudgingly, lived and saw their home. He wanted to understand, to show he was not an ignorant fool. He had every intention of winning the natives who cared nothing for him over.
This morning, however, was different. He had chosen to stay close to home, to explore what this particular island provided. With the tide out, he could see the various tropical creatures that lived in the clear waters. He was fascinated by how vividly colored the fish were. He had heard about some brightly colored horses that resembled birds native to the islands, but he wasn’t sure if he could believe it. How could a horse be as bright as the fish before him? It didn’t seem right. Cobalt colored eyes tore themselves away, peering out into the tide as he pondered. Allowing himself to think about how horses could be so bright as a reprieve from the usual. It allowed his mind to forget his scars, however brief the moment was.
He wasn’t deaf to the whispers of the natives who lived around him, after all. And who could ignore the extensive scarring that marred his pearly coat?

It wasn't log before she let the fish go from her gaze, and when she lifted her eyes to look around her again, she saw a shape further away, bigger than herself, and lighter in coat. She couldn't see him properly yet, he was too far away, but by the sheer smell from him, she knew that the shape was a stallion, the breeze was cool this morning, and it brought all smells with it. She was hoping that her being in heat wouldn't cause any problems for him, she wasn't sure if she wanted to be forced, and who knew who this stallion was? But still... She was curious. Slowly she moved forward, to keep her hooves from sinking into the soft, wet sand, and to see who he was. Maybe was she stupid, but she didn't intend on walking too close either, just enough to see who he was.
When she came closer, she saw the scars, and although they were eyecatching, she didn't really care, scars weren't anything to be ashamed off. Honestly, she had a hard time taking her eyes off from him from where she stood, a little bit away from him, at his side. He had probably not yet seen her. She didn't know him, and she thought that she knew how every individual of Kahukura looked like. She was quite unknown though, mostly a rumor, the shy mare that didn't talk to anyone.
