Nothing the gentle queen Nova had told her about birthing had readed her for this. This night, when the sharp pains had settled in, she had thought that something was wrong with her, since she wasn't supposed to be due yet, not according to what the queen had told her. She had left the safehouse, where she and Landry had stood close to eachother sleeping this night, and she had gone to the mangroves. She didn't know this place very well, but she had been told that it was safe, so this is where she sought out a place that felt right for her, in the midst of some high mangrove roots, which had naturally caused almost a circle for her to stand in, since the tree it self rised several feet above her head, it was like a cave of roots, with walls on all sides but one. No gators resided there either, she checked that before.
After hours of pain and worrying, she could finally stand, looking at what her waiting had brought her. Her and Landrys babe. It was slightly premature, but seemed well developed anyways. A little on the small side maybe, but you had to concider that Minexi herself was small too He was beautiful. She had never seen that color before, and he seemed to be of three colors, just like her. She could see that cremello color, an almost pinkish white, and then something that looked like pale chestnut, and then white. It was a colt, a colt with amazing eyes. They were Landrys eyes, with a little of her turquoise in them. With a proud heart she nudged the little one to stand while licking him clean, something that came with instinct. She didn't stop cleaning him until he was all clean and dry either, a little ruffed in his coat maybe, but he was clean and dry, and she soon smoothed the coat down on him. Oh, how she loved him.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] It was common for most of the herd to reside near the Safehouse at night. Hoss usually stuck around there to keep his mares and children safe; it was only appropriate that Landry take advantage of every opportunity he could to keep Minexi with other horses and especially his little brother. While he was younger, Landry was less of a fighter than Hoss. If something were to disrupt them, Hoss would see it off directly, for the sake of the herd. Coming to the Mire to start his family was a good idea.
Minexi had been on her way to the mangroves not an hour ago. Landry's initial response was to follow her to offer any support he could. Being a first-time father, the palomino beast had no idea how to handle himself. He felt clumsy and uncoordinated when the issue arose. Hoss had awoken with Minexi's departure and quietly kept Landry from following, telling him that mothers were to be by themselves during such a personal time as this. It was important for new mothers and foals to bond before the father was introduced. Landry submitted reluctantly, figuring that his baby brother knew more about having children than he did. It was only natural; he was king.
When Hoss finally told him it was time, Landry silently thanked him with a nod. A gulp and Landry was trotting along the same path Mini had taken what felt like days ago. He spotted the two promptly. There stood the tiny goddess of his dreams standing above his new progeny, a curiously-colored colt. With a soft exhalation of pride, Landry smiled wider than ever before, his eyes narrowing a bit. Taking his place gracefully beside Minexi, whose glow emanated from a mile away, Landry stood above his colt and beside his mare. Who could be happier? He couldn't stop smiling, he almost feared that his face would get stuck like that for good. Would that be so bad? He nuzzled Minexi. It felt natural to stay quiet. The usually-silent stallion stayed true to himself as he admired his new family, colt and all. The Mother herself would be hard-pressed to ruin this day for him.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,500][bg=a29994] M O L I N E R E And all the pandemonium and all the madness, there comes a time where you fade to the blackness |
[/font][/color] The small, bicolored foal wiggled along the ground, the startling cold shocking his bright turquoise eyes open. A first breath of air filled his tiny lungs and he gasped, giving a small cough. His long spindly legs were intertwined together and he huffed, falling limp. He was cold, and wet, very wet. He shivered, before lifting his head and blinking his large eyes, watching the black and gold form move towards him and start licking him. He struggled to push his legs out straight, before pulling himself up on his stomach. Another light form appeared, bigger and the colt struggled to push himself up. His ears flicked back and forth and his brow furrowed in concentration. He launched himself up, but ended up stumbling sideways and falling over. He rolled back up, slowly inching his legs up this time, and standing there with legs too far spread apart that shook. His eyes lit up in excitement and he looked to see if the two- which he assumed were his mother and father- were watching him with a tiny smile.

Mini was relieved when Landry came to join her and their new little family member. She nuzzled her mate a little, her muzzle against his, before looking at the little one, now that he was all clean and fulffy, he had begun to stand up. A little wiggly at first, but he soon came up to his feet, legs wide apart to hold his balance, but he was soon there, it would be better and better, he just had to get used to his long legs. "I want you to name him, dear." She said quietly and looked at Landry with a smile, before she touched the light pelt of the colt, over that baby soft coat he had, oddly colored, just like her own coat. He was a great new member of the Swamp Herd, and she was sure that Landry and uncle Hoss would learn him everything they could about the swamp, even how to stomp alligators. Yes, she had heard about how the lead would stomp down gators that threatened his herd, or at least the one who dared try to take a bite of them. It was sad that he had lost a son, but not too long ago, a new heir had been born, also oddly colored, like the lead itself was. It seemed like the swamp was home to quite a few oddly colored horses.
She could not be happier at this moment, and she was glad that everything had gone alright after all, since it had been her first time, and she was so small. She had almost feared that the foal would be too big for her, since Landry was so tall compared to her, but it had gone just fine.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] "Oh yah?" Landry said quietly, his smile never leaving the scene. His blue eyes danced from his son to his girl, finding it all very hard to believe. He'd been blessed beyond comprehension and the Mother deserved all the credit. He was thankful not only to have the two, but also for his brother and his herd. They had safety here and with such familiar surroundings, Landry knew he would be at his best here as a father. The little one would have a loving, supportive family. Minexi would be one of the best and most attentive mothers in the swamp, he knew that much.
"How 'bout 'Molinere'? Mah daddy's great-grandsire's name. Awlways liked it," he asked his mate. He took a moment to admire her eyes - they were hard to miss. Beautiful, striking, and mesmerizing, they were. His son had them too. Lucky dog, he thought with a laugh.
OOC: Sorry, short.

[/font][/color] The small foal was trying to grasp what they were saying. He scrunched his brow in concentration as he watched the way their lips moved. "N-n-naayum?" He stuttered, eyes lighting up slightly as he looked to see if they were watching again. He sighed at the sight of them looking at each other, before a gurgle in his stomach made his head shoot up. He licked his lips, before placing a tiny hoof before him slowly, inching toward his mother. He started to suckle, his fluffy tail wagging much like an excited puppies. He pulled back, blowing a bubble with the milk and giving a weird laughing sound before glancing at his parents.
