It was a proverb Annas lived and breathed by, one he would never forget. The ghost of a stallion knew his time on the mountain had not been ill-spent. The king had faded away and Annas had done his fair share of both converting and punishing those unwilling to see things in the Mother's light. The Linx had seen Her wrath and would soon live under it. His partner Caiaphas was not up for the task. His heart was not solely dedicated to serving Her and therefore he was unfit for such a high position. Annas had been born a high King and now he would finally fit the mold in an official light. Much as he hated to admit and would never do so aloud, he knew it was Victoria that put him up to ascending to the highest rank of king. The raw-necked stallion wasted no time in climbing as high as he could through the mountain forests, his system feeling the pressure of the higher altitude as he moved. Annas's legs pressed on with the energy of the sun on his back to nourish them as he moved, the winter air cold on his sides. Snow was worse up here than any other place in the Homelands, though nowhere was it too bad. The struggle was not in vain; he found the old king's perch promptly, aware of its location before he took the journey up the mountain. He stood tall and statuesque as he always did, his front hooves close to each other, his chest higher than normal as he inhaled and exhaled slowly at the sight of the Linx range below him. With Victoria appeased, she would surely make a regal Queen. It was good to have someone like her taking the position alongside him; someone with experience. "By the might of the Mother, I now claim these lands as my own to rule. No creature shall defy my reign for as long as I live!" With a loud voice, his declaration rang through the mountains easily. |
