HOHENHEIM;; If you were dead or still alive... I Don't Care A place fit for a king. Or that's at least what others had said about the Nombeko Plains since he was a foal. And was he not fit for the title of King? Well, the fact still remained that a great stallion had just stumbled into the territory at a time when no other had laid claim to it. Though referred to, not only as a great stallion but, as a gentle stallion, Hohenheim was also an opportunist as many a stallion could be. And this territory could not have showed up at a better time for him...
Alone and without a herd, family, or even friend to call his own, what else was he meant to do as a nomad stallion? The life of a loner was not a good look for him, naturally being a herd animal like all of his brethren. He was aged and weather-beaten, but still overall a healthy horse. His golden coat was dull with wear from the elements, but still showed potential in its dim gleam to what it may become with some care. His matching gold mane and tail were also unkempt. Long and tangled at the ends but rather dirty at the roots, it was in desperate need of a pair of shears, but there was no one to provide that for the stallion, nor did he particularly care at this time. There were more important matters on his mind.
This was his place, his new home. Here he would recreate his life as something new and something better. With a shake of his dirty mane that travelled down his back and to his legs, the great stallion Hohenheim picked his front half off the ground and, lashing the air with his hooves, he let out his claiming bellow, letting all that could hear him know that he was here and not leaving for anything.

It was his first venture out of Yacare since he was a much younger stallion - perhaps four or five. The trip was not hard. The plains were much kinder to a horse's frail legs than the mire was. Each step almost felt like a cushion beneath his hooves. The spring grass was growing beautifully here - it was a sight to see.
Hostetler wasted no time after claiming his own land in going to visit other lands' leaders. In fact, had he just heard the call of a new lord of the land? The sound was triumphant and passionate enough. Perhaps Nombeko had just welcomed new management, as Yacare had. Spring was always a wonderful time of year for changes in power.
His trip west had called for him to cross a grand river - a bit of a challenge. Thank the Mother that river wasn't riddled with predators as Yacare was. By now the wind had dried his legs and barrel from any river water and he cantered gracefully through the plains, searching for a leader. At least the sound from earlier had given him some idea of where to head.
Hostetler continued on, his frame fit and his nostrils beginning to flare with fatigue. It was time for a rest and just on time! The sight of another stallion at the farthest reach of his view gave him another burst of energy - enough to get him to the stranger. It wasn't long before they were a safe distance apart. "'Ello suh! Zat'chu Ah just heard?" His tone was friendly, willing to meet this new King. The golden stallion looked formidable - he didn't want to get on his bad side.

HOHENHEIM;; If you were dead or still alive... I Don't Care The older stallion had not expected visitors so quickly after laying claim to the land and so was a bit (albeit understandably) startled at the sound of pounding hooves approaching him. Hohenheim could not help but wonder if he was already being challenged by another stallion he had not seen or smelled that also wanted the Plains. As fast as possible, Hohenheim tried to mentally prepare himself for the possibly upcoming battle. The first battle as King at any time in his life. Yes, there had been scuffles and skirmishes previously in his life, as any stallion could tell you, but title fights were a much rarer occurence. Especially when you had a stallion that had never owned a territory before, like Hohenheim.
Slowly he turned in order to greet the fast approaching horse, preparing to size up his opponent and also ready himself for the fight. However, as the stallion approached with his own greeting, the golden stallion relaxed slightly. Judging by the tone of his voice, this was not a confrontational situation, but a friendly greeting, perhaps a healthy, curious approach of another stallion that had been in the area and wanted to see who had claimed the area. "Ello suh! Zat'chu Ah just heard?" Was the other stallion's greeting, which only put Hohenheim more at ease. Yes, this was a friendly approach, not challenging or aggressive.
In response, the older stallion gave a slight nod of his head. "Yes, that was me you had heard. I just claimed this territory. My name is Hohenheim." He said politely, his ears forward. Suddenly he became all-too aware of how dirty and unkempt he must appear to this other oddly colored stallion. Previously he had not cared about his appearance as what horse really cares about the cleanliness of an old, loner stallion? Now, however... Now Hohenheim had an image to uphold. Who would take an old, shaggy, bony stallion seriously as King of an entire territory? Certainly not him in his younger days. Perhaps he should have thought things through more, but what's done is done and he could only look forward from here.

The stallion was a bit rough around the edges but Hoss didn't mind. He was used to shabby-lookers. They were the cream of the crop back in Yacare. Swamp-dwellers on general principles were not a clean people. Hostetler was probably the best-looking one of the bunch.
The stallion had just claimed Nombeko. Good for him! Hostetler was honestly pleased. With a smile on his lips, he nodded at his new acquaintance Hohenheim. "Ah reckon you'll be a fine King'a this land, Hohenheim!" The black, brown, and white stallion never wanted to put anyone down. To be sure, he didn't know this stallion in the slightest, but the surest way to be his friend was to compliment him, right? That was the way for most.
"Ah'm Hostetler, from Yacare. You from here, Hohenheim?" He repeated the name. It was a strange one, worthy of being repeated as many times as necessary to keep the name and the face associated. Hoss was sure he wouldn't forget this one. The name, the face, the whole package.
OOC: A bit shorter. I like it though

HOHENHEIM;; If you were dead or still alive... I Don't Care Hohenheim nodded graciously in response to the other stallion's compliments. Currently he was unsure as to whether he quite believed them and could not help but wonder if these were just more kind words in order to put him at ease, but he appreciated the sentiment nonetheless. It gave him a sense of security in his post, whether this stallion meant what he said or not, and his confidence grew just a little bit more. The old stallion stood a bit taller and straighter and flicked his golden tail against his equally golden flanks. "I am not from here," He said, shaking his head slowly. "I have wandered the Homeland since I was a young horse and never stayed in one place for long." Hohenheim paused, glancing about for a few moments, taking in the scenery that surrounded him. Yes, these would be a good home for him. "But I believe that I am ready to settle down here. What about you, Hostetler?" He looked back to the patched stallion, golden eyes focusing. "What brings you to my new home?"

"Oh, nomad, huh?" Hostetler said with a smirk. He knew some of those, though he couldn't boast of being one. He loved his home and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. It was important to have different tastes though. Hostetler wouldn't judge the golden stallion for their differences. "It's important to settle somewhere yuh love."
With a smile, Hostetler pawed a little at the plains' earth. The ground was soft and dry here - so unlike his kingdom. Hohenheim's land and Hostetler's land, though not directly neighboring each other or really resembling each other in any way, would be united with their leaders' meeting. It felt so official. Only just recently had the idea of himself owning a land sunk in and now here he was performing one of many duties - meeting the other kings.
"Ah come to see you, actually! Wanted to git t'know the other kings. Cer'ainly good t'see you ahr not one for me t'be avoidin'," Hoss grinned.
