[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] The Boondocks were not quite what Landry was expecting.
Then again, he wasn't sure what he could've expected other than what he was presented with. Minexi was no doubt nearby - they had been traveling together for a while and Landry had led them south to get some more sun. The poor little mare wasn't built for many territories to the north, so he felt if she was going to join him for a while, they better head south.
The yellow stallion stood close beside a large green shrub today, his hooves gripping the rocks beneath him. They weren't in the moorlands, so he didn't have much to fear should he fall, but it was still unfamiliar to the stallion. The terrain was almost terraced where he stood, with a pretty large step down before him. In truth, he found little beauty in the hard terrain and pokey shrubs. He couldn't imagine a herd actually living here, though he knew some did. His hooves were more used to soft moss and mud - not hard rock and stone. Landry was less than comfortable and therefore was intent on not lingering long here. He turned back to look for Mini, silently scanning his path for the black and gold girl he'd collected back at the Cognar.

The warmer temperature of the Boondocks suited her well, even though she had felt a little guilty of having him going here for her sake. Since they had decided to join forces for a while, so to speak, it was appearent that he had seen it as a better choice to wander a bit more to the south, avoiding the cold temperatures. She had been very thankful to him though, but she still stood close to him every night, partly for warmth, but mostly for the opportunity to be close to someone. However, it was not evening now, and she had wandered off for a bit to try and scout the surroundings a bit, to see if they were alone or not, but her steps was moving her back to Landry now, she had found nothing but shrubs and stones.
The little black and golden mare made her back to the golden stallion who stood on a little perch somewhat, and she nickered slightly to announce that she was back. Her body was agile and delicate, but she moved well in this typ eof terrain, mostly because she was so light and had no problem going up and down the hill, and she had less problem with loose rocks than what others had, just because of the size difference, but she didn't like this place that much despite that. There were such an abscence of green and water, and life, that she found it quite depressing.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] Landry didn't have to wait too long for Mini to catch up. Her little legs were dainty but not slow. He turned only his head to her, taking in her expression in order to assess her condition. Landry had no less than the best of intentions for the pair as they traveled. He knew that to have a mare in tow was to have a treasure. Yacarians had always valued their ladies as bringers of life, love, and peace. Minexi was his own little bundle of happiness following him on his trek throughout the Homeland. It felt good to have her on his side. To be honest, Landry wasn't quite sure what they were. Friends, he supposed.
Landry smiled at her before looking back out before him at the rocky, drab scenery. No, the Boondocks were not what he was searching for. He cleared his throat as if he hadn't spoken in weeks. He barely had, really.
"Don' tink we'll be steyin' here fuh long," he said, shaking his head slowly. His blue eyes slunk from the nearby shrub to the farthest peak of the Moorlands in the distance. It felt as though no life existed between the two of them and that rocky structure. How could it? The sun was hot and the ground was dry. The deserts would be worse... Perhaps they would change their course completely?
OOC: SO sorry it's late!!

When she got up close to the golden stallion again, her friend, she nudged slightly at his shoulder, to be friendly and saying hello. She was always one happy mare, not much seemed to bring her down and she knew him well enough now to want to touch him every time she had been away. It was sort of a reasurement of him being there still, that he wasn't a ghost or something. His comment that they wouldn't be staying here long, didn't surprise her, she wanted out of here soon too, the lack of life was not to her liking and she missed the sight of green grass and sparkling water.
"This is one dry place, not a green thing in sight and no sound of fresh water. I wouldn't mind gettin' out of 'ere." She said softly, looking around her, as he did, her turquoise eyes trying to see something, but failed, just as his blue ones failed too. She started to long for the winter in this heat, almost. She liked it warmer than it had been that day by the river, but cooler than this. She didn't even want to imagine how it was in the desert. "How about a little change of course?" She said softly, and shook hear head so the black and white mane dazzled around her in the sun, and it cooled her off a bit.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] Landry welcomed her touch; it was reassuring. The mare was very intimate and clearly enjoyed his company. He couldn't say he didn't enjoy her's either. The stallion smiled his silent smile, listening to her words, computing them inside his head. His ears perked forward as his eyes searched for life. Any sign of where to head.
Landry tossed his head softly in agreement; he avoided words when possible. The stallion beamed down at Minexi before turning his neck so that his face faced behind him - where they'd arrived from. Landry had a mental map in his head. He knew where Yacare was and he knew where Lake Vesta was. He narrowed down his directions before deciding the direction Nombeko was in. It looked like there were three choices. Now that the weather was beginning to warm up, it looked like the sky was the limit for the two horses. He didn't want to return to Lake Vesta, but which way would they go?
"Your 'ouse or mine?" Landry smirked. He felt like a colt asking a filly to come out and play. It was revitalizing, really.
OOC: 'ouse = house; metaphor for home xD

Looking around her while she was thinking about the decisions to be made, she dlickered her ears slightly. She looked curious, but also very thoughtful in those greenblue eyes and that look that she gave the horizon. His home or hers.. She had no real desire to return to her own home actually, there was nothing for her there, and the wast plains didn't call for her. She was a free, wandering mare, she had no desire to return to her homeland where only more loneliess awaited her. When looking back to Landry, she realized that she liked his company more than she had ever imagined. She felt good when he was around, safe and good.
"Yours? I've always wanted to see the swamps." She said with a big smile on her lips and in the eyes. There was not much that could grumble this mares hapiness, and that must have been clear for the golden stallion by now. Mini was a happy little mare, and it was not that she was simple-minded, she was very intelligient actually, and you could see it when she was thinking, that flash of brilliance in her eyes when she had come up with something, mostly some curious mischief or something, just because she liked to be playful.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] Landry, in truth, was a little relieved at her answer. Staring back at the Boondocks, Landry could see that maybe travel was not going to be all he'd heard it was. Perhaps he'd picked a lesser destination, but for whatever reason he did not feel the need to keep moving as he had before he'd met Minexi. Returning home with a mare in tow sounded like a noble deed. As if he was bringing a mate back to meet the family. Landry did not rule out the possibility. After all, they had resided together for the past few days, why not longer?
Landry smiled, turning his attention north. His head held high and his blue eyes shining in the sunlight, the stallion felt proud. He knew Minexi would love the swamps and it would be good to see Hostetler again. Perhaps the herd had grown since his departure?
"Ahright," he said softly as he took the first few steps in the direction of his homeland, his head a bit lowered to better relate to Minexi's shorter stature. Landry's frame was nought to be teased; he was a tall drink of water, standing around two entire hands taller than his female counterpart. It was the least he could do, really.
OOC: Prolly done. You can start the new thread in the Mire! ^_^
