Kiva stood in front of the whale skeleton, his nostrils taking in the scents of Kahukura. The bones were bleached, and sand covered all around the base of the white bone. Kiva himself had never had a vigil, even through he grew up on the islands. He found the thing slightly idiotic, for he already had a companion of some sort that was tied to his soul. Pit stared at the bones from between Kiva's ears, his body up and not huddled in a big lump in between Kiva's ears. "There are hoof prints inside it, some looked panicked. Why is that?" Pit asked, his eyes looking around for any horse. "There are hoof prints in there for the yearlings vigils, in which they enter the bones and find a spirit guide." "Do you have one?" "No, I never participated, the idea of it is slightly idiotic. For they poison the minds of yearlings with this flower. And they see things. A friend of mind I used to know went into his vigil and said he was killed by demons. But he told me.. So it must have been a hallucination of some sort..." Kiva started to become deeply acquainted with the topic, his mind thinking too much about it. "You're thinking about it too much, stop it before your head blows up." Pit said with a chirp, continuing. "But I believe you when you say that they poison the children's minds with this spirit guide illness. But its been a tradition for them. Why would they stop it?" "Very true, why would they stop if its been happening for years? Pit, I ask you this. If someone told you it was a sin of the gods to lay eggs, would your kind stop laying eggs?" "No, not at all, we need to survive, so the females would still lay their eggs." "Yes, that means that the means of tradition would get in the way, so i doubt that these vigils will ever stop. Unless something happens to these whale bones." Kiva said, raising his hoof up to knock on the white bone.

Vigils... idiotic? It raged Cyril, being heir if this island and plans to rule it one day. He was almost 6 months old now, and his spines were filling in nicely, he lifted them from their resting position, flaring and stretching them. They still had a ton of room to grow, along with Cy himself. The were along both shoulders, his back, forehead, a few on his hindquarters and along his fetlocks. He pranced silently in the soft sand, moving it around with his hooves. It squished under his feet and a small grin spread across his face.
Cy looked back up at the pair with bicolored eyes, looking at them curiously. If the conversation went any further it would surely anger him, and he whisked his small tail and annoyance. He rolled his eyes about the remark of birds not laying eggs. Like that would ever happen. Cy looked forward to the day where he would have his own vigil, but it was also a frightening thought, with demons and spirits and hallucinations. '... Unless something happens to these whale bones,' the stallion said, raising his hoof poising to strike one of the ribs. Anger flashed through Cy's eyes and his spines flared up. He burst out of the coverage of the trees much like a freight train, skidding to a stop in front of the stallion, his spines still flared dangerously, the points just starting to get sharp. "Don't touch those! Those are sacred. Nothing will happen to them." |
Cy said angrily, pawing the ground slightly with his front hoof. He looked at the sparrow that sat between that stag's ears. He held back a smirk, oh you don't have a spirit guide do you? It's just a bird that you can understand... Cy though sarcastically. OOC: Kiva didn't place a good impression for Cy xD [/div]

Kiva turned his ears, swiveling them and looking at the young colt who appeared. Angrily swishing his tail and talking about how nothing would happen to them. "Of course nothing would." He said, making sure his blind eye wasn't facing the colt. "I was just simply stating that if something would, that the tradition would change. But mostly, ease dropping is quite rude, and it isn't a good habit for a foal your age." He said, slightly scolding the child. "Kiva, you mustn't treat the Kings son with distaste." The swallow said in between his ears. Kiva simply snorted, watching the child's spike like appendages seemed to sharpen every time he felt insulted. Kiva narrowed his eyes, turning his head, no longer caring that the foal saw his blind eye. His blind eye a weakness he hated, yet it showed he'd been through battles and come back alive. But it wasnt really a battle, he'd just fallen and hit his head on the rock on his left side of his head. "I didn't know i was talking to royalty." He said with a smirk. "No wonder he was so angered about me disgracing these bones Pit." He said communicating with his companion instead of the foal right in front of him. Pit replied rather quickly. "Ahh, yes. The kings name is Risquè. I hoped that you had known that much. And being the Kings son, his name is widely known as Cyril." Pit said, flapping his wings a little bit then returning to gaze upon the foal. "Ahh, Shall I call you Prince Cyril?" Kiva said, looking over to Cyril. He watched the Princes spines for any reaction
OCC: bhahaha That sounds like Iris about, touching that and you'll die XD

But mostly, ease dropping is quite rude, and it isn't a good habit for a foal your age.' The stag said, which infuriated Cyril. "A foal my age? What is that supposed to mean? I'm nearly 6 months, mind you." The bird spoke of his father, scolding the stallion for scolding himself. Cy nodded to the bird slightly, at least it had some manners. ' didn't know i was talking to royalty, no wonder he was so angered about me disgracing these bones Pit.' The stag said with a smirk, turning his head to reveal a blind eye. A weakness. A smirk crossed Cy's own face, swishing his tail and acting like he didn't notice his, erm, weakness. Cy was surprised the bird knew his father's- and his own- name. He gave some respect for the bird though. 'Ahh, shall I call you Prince Cyril?' the older stallion asked sarcastically. "I would you rather not call me 'Prince Cyril' as we don't even use those terms here. I don't care if you didn't know, at least your spirit guide has some respect for others, unlike yourself. I suggest you drop the attitude or leave this island, koroua tāriana." Cy said, a large smirk plastered on his face. He probably had no idea what the words meant, and he swished his tail, content.
Cy shook his spines, flaring them up and resting them before looking at the stallion again for any reaction of what he had just said.
OOC: I doubt Kiva would know what it means, but 'koroua tāriana' means elder stallion in Maori. Bahahahaha

Kiva gently shook his head, listening to the... Six month old. And made a small laugh. "A Spirit guide?"hearing Himself saying it made him chuckle even more "Pit here is far from a spirit guide my friend. He's just an ordinary Swallow. From the mainland of course." He said with a grin. Pit flapped his wings, making Kiva flick his ears. "You do realize what he called you Kiva." The Swallow said with a slight giggle coming from his beak. Kiva shook his head, telling the bird no. Pit just laughed. and then nestled back into Kiva's forelock. "I do wish you would learn the language of your homeland Kiva. Its necessary when coming across an Islander who knows nothing about the Mainlanders language." Kiva snorted. They've been taught both languages, if he did recall. Except his Mother was an idiot and taught him only the words of mainlanders. Even if he preferred the mainland to the islands. Kiva ignored the bird and his stupid laughing fits he had when he knew Kiva never understood what the other islanders said in his conversations with them. "I don't think I'll ever want to learn the language he is speaking Pit. Besides, if he doesn't have the courage to say those words to me in my language, then he'll be counted as a wimp in the way of words in my mind." Kiva said, his words attacking the foal in-directly.

He's just an ordinary Swallow. From the mainland of course.' The stallion said with a low chuckle. Mention of the mainland made Cyril recoil, but he regained himself. As they conversed, the bird laughing, Cy couldn't help but let a small laugh escape his lips too. 'I don't think I'll ever want to learn the language he is speaking Pit. Besides, if he doesn't have the courage to say those words to me in my language, then he'll be counted as a wimp in the way of words in my mind.' Cy rolled his eyes, swishing his tail, not at all affected by the attack. "If you aren't willing to learn don't expect your spirit guide to translate for you, we speak it around here often and it's your fault if you don't understand." Cy said, giving a shrug of his shoulders. "And your name? Kiva? Interesting. I'm Cyril, as you know." Cy added starkly, twitching his eyes over to Kiva's blind eye and the swallow before looking back at the precious, historical bones.
OOC: Oh Cy xD

Kiva rolled his eyes. "I don't rely on my 'spirit guide' to translate words for me." Kiva paused, thinking of what he would respond to on the its your fault. "I do agree with you sadly how it is my fault. Unfortantly; it isnt my fault if my Mother never taught me the langauage of your people." He sighed, and nodded. "Yes, my name is Kiva. I really don't know how its interesting through..." He trailed off. Kiva noticed the young colt looking at his eye, yet again. " You can either stop staring at my blind eye or you can be curious and ask about it. Your choice Cyril." Kiva watched the colt closely, then turned his head to the left and looked at the forest that covered most of the island, except most of what he heard was the islanders of the island sticking onto the beaches only. It was a shame

"Maybe you should have asked her." Cy said crisply. 'You can either stop staring at my blind eye or you can be curious and ask about it. Your choice Cyril.' Kiva said, annoyed, before turning his head away. "I shall do as I please. Though as I see it's bothering you, what happened to your eye?" Cy said, trying to stash away his sarcasm, though some of it still showed through. He looking into the forest where Kiva had looked, seeing a bit of disappointment cross his face. Cy forced his spines down, shaking his horned head.
