Oh how foolish the little mare had been, thinking that she could face yet another winter alone without missing the company of others. It had been a pain last winter, and that time it hadn't even been for the whole winter. Stupid Mini. Yes, she was muttering for herself, in lack of other things to entertain herself with. The little mare was gently walking over the snowy grounds, although there weren't as much snow here along the River Cognar as everywhere else, but even where it was deep, it reached just above her ankles, but she didn't go there, she made it easy on herself, since she was so small, she prefered that. Since she was young, she didn't have much experience of.. well, anything really, so you could say she was still a bit shy of the world around here, but even she knew the basics, she thought at least... "Damn this blistering winter!" She muttered again for herself as she sunk down with one of her hooves in a hidden little hole, covered by snow, so she had to pull herself up before walking past it.
Her petite black body was flecked with patterns in gold and white, her white and black mane and tail long and gracious, but it was the turquoise eyes, bright and alert, with such a little fire in them, a spark of live and a wish to live, that were the most eyecatching, at least according to her mother, and she had never heard any else's opinion. With her delicate ears pricked forward, she walked foward with long, relaxed steps, with a certain proud look to them, she liked who she was, even though she was small, but she would probably not grow more, so she had accepted it, accpted to be smaller than most other grown horses.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] Landry had not travelled far and he scolded himself a little for being so lazy as to only get as far as Cognar in the last few seasons. He'd be off to see the world soon, just not today. Curse his inherited need-to-remain-in-one-place trait!
Landry laughed a little at the thought. His family had lived in Yacare for generations upon generations. Few ever left; he was certainly one of the only ones outside of the home country. The Common Grounds were the perfect place to reside in while one compiled one's thoughts, but this one had been doing so for far too long. Landry picked up his feet today, racing along the river's edge in an effort to get himself back into shape. In his current state, there would be no making it all the way to Saraph without injury, disease, or just plain exhaustion standing in the way.
The stallion was at his slowest gallop, jumping any hurdles and avoiding anything too tall to jump over. He was not the athlete his brother Hostetler was, but he had some of his legendary father in him, right? The isabella palomino slowed at the sight of a mare across the river. The Cognar was not too wide and would prove to be the perfect distance apart for conversation no louder than a dull roar. He slowed to a stop as he took in her coat. She was a small thing, but pretty nonetheless. Landry was a pretty tall one and this girl no doubt would barely reach his withers. A wide smile spread across his grey lips, his blue eyes gleaming with happiness to see the stranger. Landry loved company...
"Allo dere!"

Caught in her own little mind and thoughts, the little mare flickered her ears when she caught the movement of another horse in the corner of her eye. He was coming in a galloping stride on the other side of the river, his pale golden coat was beautiful and eyecatching, and even from this distance, she could see that he was taller than her, around 20 cm taller. The stallions voice was a bit loud over the river, but it was needed, even though the river wasn't very wide or powerful here, it could probably easily be waded through, but it would be cold, and she would go down pretty deep. "Hello there stranger!" Her slightly strange accent was not the same as his, but he had an accent of his own, and she quite liked it.
As he had stopped, so did she, but she made sure to place her dainty hooves at safe places, she didn't want to slip down into the river, which was a possibility, it was quite slippery along the edges. "Who are you?" She was very curious and straight forward, but that was maybe part of her young age that played through, she didn't understand why she'd go big loops around the subject, she wanted to know who he was.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] Her antics were well-received by the quiet-spoken Landry. She was young - much younger than he - but she respected herself as a mare, as she should. Some females were too much about themselves than others, deciding that they were more than those they met. This one did not strike him as one - a trait he admired. Though he never got snippy with anyone at all, he could imagine the first kind of equine he could find fault with was one like that. Some stallions were the same way. This beautiful girl across the way didn't seem to be that way at all. Then again, the judgement was made after only hearing two statements come out of her mouth.
The smiling stallion stood still, facing the opposite side of the river that the beauty stood before. He waited a little before replying, thinking of the very best response he could. Not being anything of a talker, Landry took time to plan his words before they came out; it seemed the only sensible thing to do when exposing yourself at such a level as speaking to another. He wanted to make the best impression he could at all times. "...'Landry', miss!"
Yelling was his absolute least favorite thing to do. It seemed impractical for a stallion like Landry to carry on a conversation at such a distance. He was not a shy guy; he had no reason to stay far away from the stranger. Landry's head turned to face the direction the river flowed from and followed it until he had successfully looked both ways, assessing the possibility of fording the river. Never would he make a lady come to meet him.
The banana-hued stallion took the first step into the river, his hooves to his cannons immediately drenched. Small splatters of water hit his right side as he walked through, his eyes glued to the area where the mare stood, his goal in sight. It didn't take him too long as the part of the river he decided to ford was rather narrow in comparison to the rest of it. Landry stepped out of the river and found himself quite near the mare, but not to an impolite extent.
"'Yuhseff?" he said with a sigh of slight fatigue. It truly wasn't too bad.

She had wanted to answer him, but as she saw him looking at the river, like he was thinking about crossing, she froze a little, just by the thought of crossing that cold water. It might not be deep, but she didn't handle it all too well when she got wet during winter, it was always hard to get properly warm again. Another downside to being alone, she guessed while shivering when she saw honom cross. How could he stand that cold water? She got goosebumps just by looking at it, but of course, he was bigger and probably didn't have her problem.
When he finally was over to her side, she looked curiously at him, blue eyes meet turquoise, her slightly traced with gold. He had a slight gold color too, all over his body, but his was very light and pale, and hers were like molten gold made into a coat, or at least flecks on her coat, since she was mostly black. Her gentle, happy face was smiling at him, eyes being warm and inviting to a conversation, even though she had to look up just a little at him. "Minexi, sir. Really nice to meet 'ya Landry." Could there be a happier, more soft voice? even though she was young, and her voice bore trace of it, it was still a grown up mares voice, and she was an adult, no doubt about it, she was just dainty and a little playful at mind, innocent and delicate, but she meant every word.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] As the stallion stood tall next to the mare, he could feel the winter breeze blow past his legs far more effectively than he could before he'd forded the Cognar. For most, such a sensation would be unbearable, but not for Yacarians. Landry's homeland was mostly bayou waters and swamp lilies. They remained in the land all throughout the winter season and no one could avoid getting wet there - Landry's system was completely used to it. He smiled down at the mare and appreciated her unfamiliar twang, noting its differences from his own. Hers was very subdued, almost not even there. She had a sense of etiquette which he truly appreciated. His family was old-fashioned and had taught him the same ways of his ancestors when it came to respect and humility.
Landry didn't want to speak next, but he knew it was his turn. He stood there simply, taking in her small frame mixed with such elaborate designs that reminded him of his half-brother, the King of Yacare. They weren't unnatural, they were just rare, his father had told Hoss all those years ago. Landry's eyes wandered to hers, turquoise and stunning. Those weren't normal, he knew that much. Yet, he couldn't stop staring at them... He struggled to find words that he really had no interest in uttering but for politeness' sake.
"Yuh don' sound like yoo from 'round he-yuh..."

With a glance she looked at his wet legs, and she shivered again at the bare thought of the cold, but at the same time, it felt warmer around her now that he was here, possibly because his body shielded her from most of the wind. Her smaller statue was easier to hide in every possible way, and, even though it probably was a fluke, he had placed himself in the way of the wind, so she wasn't feeling it as much. Win for her, but she felt kinda bad that he did so, like she was a nuiscence for him. Looking closer at him she noticed the blue eyes more than before, and his muscled body under that light golden coat with the cream colored mane and tail. He was handsome, no doubts about it, and to be honest, it was hard for her not to stare.
"Because I ain't from here, sir. The southern parts of Nombeko plains was my home you see." She was a little proud of her heritage of course, even though she had learned that she didn't look like she belonged in the family. She was the smallest, most oddlooking horse in her family, but never the less, she loved them dearly, every one. That was the family that she had left last year, at the age of two, maybe a little early for a young mare, but shehad wanted to see the world, not stay at the plains for all of her life, and she really hadn't liked that leadstallion that had replaced the old one either. So here she was, looking for adventure, places to go, love, friends, whatever she could find. So far it hadn't gone well for her, that was why she had felt so lonely. "And we are you from? I love your accent!" She was a sucker for accents that were different, yes she was. And his was indeed different.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] The little doll made him smile. The palomino stallion's cream-hued tail swished back and forth behind him slowly as he listened to her. Nombeko? They'd once been allies to Yacare... Back in the few days of Hohenheim. Hoss had gone to visit the new leader and they'd gotten along just fine. Landry left soon after that.
"Originated from Yacare, Ma'am," Landry said with a small nod of his head. Anyone would be hard-pressed to find anyone from the place that didn't have the accent. In all honesty, Landry's was far diluted from his father's. Outsiders could barely understand the swamp legend when he spoke. Landry took more after his mother in that respect; it was Hoss who'd really inherited the speech.
"...De King dere is mah brothuh!" he said quietly but happily, throwing his head up for a moment before it fell back to a comfortable position, his forelock falling behind his ears.

His brother was the kind of the Yacare Mire? Jeez, she had never expected to stumble across someone of such a high rank. She suddenly felt smaller than small. She had been a nobody all of her life, and now she heard that this handsome stallion was the brother of a king. if horses could blush, she would have. Maybe her white blaze got a little more pink between her nostrils, just a little. But he sure was nice for being a royalty, she liked it. She like his overall personality as a matter of fact, the gentleman he was, his accent, the fact that he was so nice. It made her smile happily.
"Your brother, eh? Then I have to say it's very nice to meet such a royalty!" She didn't mean to flatter him, she wasn't that type, and you could hear that in her voice, she meant it. For her, he was a royalty as the kings brother, because that meant, as long as his brother hadn't challenged and won the throne, that this stallion here was son of the former king, he was a prince, even if he choose to not see it like that himself. "Just sad that we'd meet on such a cold day." She said, with a faint shiver, even though he blocked the wind to get to her, but it was still cold, she had yet to fill in a proper coat, and here along the river, were there were so much moisture in the air, it was colder it seemed.

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] Landry's smile widened as he laughed, her suggestion that he was a royal hitting him in just the right place. He'd honestly never thought of that. At least, not for a while. Rembrandt had been his father, but Eula hadn't been his mother. He supposed he was indirectly some sort of prince...
"Half-brother," he laughed. The small mare seemed to be so surprised at his relation to the king. Was it so unbelievable? Leaders had rights to all his mares in a herd, so wouldn't that mean that most foals had honorable fathers? Well, perhaps not. There were more stallions out there that weren't leaders than that were. Herd horses were such a small percentage of those that lived in the Homeland. Landry supposed her surprise was well-founded after all.
Cold? Yeah, it was a little bit nippy. It took him a little time to realize that she must be much colder than he was, judging by her stature and her home territory. Poor little thing. His Yacarian good-natured kindess took hold as he moved closer to her in a simple attempt at providing body heat. He positioned himself parallel to her so that almost no winter breeze hit her barrel. "Better?" he said sweetly as he smiled down at her from the side. He had only the tiniest bit of flirtatious intention on his voice. She was a pretty dame, after all.

"Even so.." She said with a little smile when he said that he was the kings half brother. It was still a bond by blood, and such bonds was precious. She had two siblings, she knew that much, but other than that, she had never met them, she just knew them by name. So much for a family. She was the youngest on of the siblings, and according to her mother before she had left, she had been the smallest one too. No one knew why she was so small, since her mother had been quite tall, and her father too appearently. She just was. But she had never let it bring her down, she kept on being positive about her life. What fun was there if everyone went around being all negative and such?
When the stallion moved closer to her, pressing the side of his body against hers, so she could feel the heat, she looked up at him with big eyes, but clearly grateful for the gesture. It sure made it warmer. "Yes, thank you." She said and tried not to smile too widely, but she didn't manage it all too well, and that smile went all the way up to her eyes too, so happy for such a simple thing. She actually snuggled in just a tad against him, pressing part of her neck against his also, her long mane laying on the other side of the neck, warming that side. "I've never met anyone so nice as yourself."

[th][cs=3][rs=3][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,491][bg=241633] "Anyting fo' a lovely guhl comme vous!" he said happily as he looked down at the mare beside him. It always felt good to be complimented for his polite nature. It was as if she were accepting his heritage, since it was because of that that he was so kind to begin with. Yacare was the best place to grow up - he was sure of it.
Landry kept quiet for a long while, not feeling the common feeling of awkwardness when one stood so close to another without speaking. It felt much more natural to not speak; as if their spirits could mingle without verbal interference. He was close to the mare and was completely comfortable. She had a kind air and an understanding presence that he enjoyed. He was ever-grateful to have the opportunity to be this small angel's source of sustainment.
Not wanting to interrupt the moment, the quiet stallion lived up to his usual ways.

She actually turned her head down just a bit, like she was blushing and was a little embarressed at the fact that he complemented her. She liked getting compliments, but it was rare that she got them, since often wandered around meeting no one. It wasn't a choice, she was just really unlucky when it came to meeting people and such. Landry was the first horse she had met in weeks, but she was glad that i was him who she met, because he was absolutely adorable. And handsome, and lovely.. She could keep coming up with words that suited him forever it felt like. The fact that they were staying so close to eachother, warming eachothers sides, made her heart flutter like the wings of a butterfly. It was a new feeling, so excited and calm at the same time, and she just ha to look at him to feel it even more. She didn't know what it was, but she didn't want it to go away, ever.
The silence was pleasant and she couldn't for her life come up with something that would be worth saying to disturb the silence with, it was too nice. She had nothing against silence, even though his voice was very nice to listen to, but she thought she could manage without it for a little while, as they warmed eachother. As she closed her eyes to just enjoy the warmth, she was unaware of the fact that she slightly pressed his neck against him, almost cuddling up, but she had a smile on her tri-colored lips.
She stood like that for a while, just warming up, but soon the wind stopped, and when it went away, it got a little warmer around them. Instead it started snowing. Not much, but just a little, with the snowflakes tussled together in fluffy little pieces as they fell. She opened her eyes when she felt them on her sensitive ears, and she looked up on the sky. She knew snow, of course, but she hadn't expected it to snow today.
