Dante The Crossing Point The black brute stared at the water ears twitching every now and again. He had never attempted to visit the islands before and out of boredom there had been an impulse to do so finally. Now that he stood at the water edge eying the five mile stretch before him he felt second doubts surfacing. With a flick of is tail he pushed them away gaze narrowing slightly in determination. He would get across regardless of any possible waves or how cold the water was. Exhaling through his nostrils he moved forwards legs lifting slightly higher then normal as he moved in to the water. Wanting to get the sock out of the way his heels kicked up slightly as he plunged forwards throwing the rest of his body below the neckline in. For a moment his body went into shock but his legs were moving then allowing his body to grow used to the liquid temperature for now. It was still going to be a long five miles.
After two miles and what felt like forever his legs started to ache feeling slightly heavier then normal as battling against the water in order to move forwards began to take its toll. A few waves tossed his body about slightly sending spray in his face. Blinking he attempt to keep his head high up but it seemed to make little distance. If he wasn't so proud then he might have turned back but there was little logic in doing so for it would have meant he had traveled four miles through the currents for no reason. These islands better be worth it. With the somewhat annoyed thought spoken in his head he pressed on refusing to let the ache of his legs turn him back. Another mile passed and still he pressed on despite the growing waves that sometimes threatened to send his head below the water or the burning aching feeling that made up his legs.
With only a mile away the waves instead of being a hindrance became helpful pushing his body towards shore. It gave his legs some relief and as much as he hated to admit it if the tides hadn't have changed he would have struggled to make it all the way there. Feeling the sore make contact with his hooves at last he trudge out of the shallows his soaked coat glistening in the suns rays. Pausing on the sandy beach he glanced around quickly before allowing his tired body the liberty of sinking to its knees. The contact of te sand on his forelock caused a burning sensation to spring up making him cry out momentarily as he instinctivly rolled on to his side to ease the pressure. The burning sensation reduced to a painful stinging sensation. Head raising he glanced at his forelock disguist entering his eyes at the sight of the gash that was there causing the white hair to be stained red. He had not noticed himself being injured and the thought that he had was annoying. With a sigh he let his head fall back to the ground eyes half closing as he considered letting his exhausted body sleep. He was safe for now. With that thought he let his eyes close slipping in to a doze.

A few spelling errors but overall a decent post!
Everything looks good, so CROSSING ACCEPTED! Welcome to the islands! Your character may now only post in the island boards.
Be sure to take into account that Dante will be extremely sore and tired for the next few days in your posts!

Even though his answer was a bit harsh, the velvet voice wasn't enough tocover all of his annoyance, she didn't expect him to be nice either, since he just had crossed and he must be very sore. But she was the type that just didn't care if anyone was mean to her, she was patient and soft, wouldn't hurt a fly as long as it wasn't for protecting those she loved. "You should get moving from her, and wash that wound off, it will get infected otherwise." She had obviously not let his annoyed voice get to her, she just ignored it, didn't care, and tried to make him understand that it wasn't a good idea to lay around here for much longer. The wound, depending on what he had cut himself on, could quickly get infected and swollen, she had experienced it before, and some wounds just closed as they should be, but why take the risk? Half a mile or so inwards on the land there was a small spring of water where he could wash the wound and get a nice cool drink, he must be very thirsty from the crossing, and now from the heat that was gazing from the sun.
She rose her head just a little and breathed in the sweet air of the sea, and it was obvious that she loved the smell of the sea, loved to feel it's breeze on her skin and through the tail. Her pink nostrils flared as she took the scents in, recording every little thing that she could smell, salt, water, the scent of the warm sun and the seaweeds that had washed ashore during the day. She was a creature of the sea, born here, but she was also curious of other things, she could very well think of herself crossing over just to see the mountains of the mainland. She blinked for a sexond and then she set her black eyes upon his bloodied face again, with a mild expression and a smile on her face. "I can show you to the spring."

Dante I have no heart, I'm cold inside
He had been dozing for a while enjoying the suns rays when he heard something approaching. Reluctant to leave the nice relaxing feeling drifting state of his mind the only recognition he gave was a slight flick of his free ear. The only one not pressed against the ground. His almost completely black coat lapped up the suns rays eagerly quickly drying out his coat and allowing the heat to sooth his muscles slightly. The only white on him was the sock, coronet and diamond shaped star. He was able to wallow in that state relaxed state for a little while longer before a voice broke it. A mare. Eyes opening slowly his head rose gaze narrowing as he shot her a rather annoyed look. Couldn't she see that he was exhausted and trying to rest? Mentally grumbling to himself and vocally growling slightly he shifted rolling over slightly so he was lying more on his belly and able to watch her better.
She was a pretty little thing he had to admit and for a moment he forgot his annoyance as he admired her. She was almost completely white with the only color on her body being over her back and rump. The mane was white apart from at the shoulder and her tail was colored the same as the color on her top line. Yes she was a pretty thing indeed. "Yes? What is it you want?" He did his best to be damn civilized but still some of his annoyance leaked in to his deep velvety words. With his questions over for now he waited for her response trying to decide whether to accept her presence for now or force her to leave.

Dante I have no heart, I'm cold inside She didn't take offense at his harsh words which meant that he would probably find it difficult to get rid of her. Which meant he would have to do as she said or appear to agree to get her to leave. "Fine. I'll see to it in a bit." Silence fell then both of them drifting into their own thoughts. On his part he was close to dozing off again his muzzle gradually lowering till it was resting on the ground. He still kept an eye on her...admiring her even if he was being honest with himself which of course he wasn't. If he admitted it then he was admitting he had an interest in her and an interest could lead to feeling. It was the one thing he hated and had sworn against. He would never love or hold romantic feeling for a mare. At least it was what he kept foolishly convincing himself. Maybe he was simply afraid of doing so.
Her gaze once more settled on him an angelic smile on her face. He simply stared back refusing himself the liberty of returning it. So much for her leaving him alone. He would never find the spring quickly by himself if he declined her offer however. Besides her company might not be so bad after all. Ears twitched back at the thought and quickly he banished it. Her company was nothing but an annoyance he told himself. With a slight grudging sight his pillars shifted beneath him gathering and then straightening as he got to his feet. "Lead the way then." He did his best to keep his annoyance there but he was failing in truth for now that he was up and awake it was receding. His pride refused to allow him to appear pitiful anyway. While waiting for her to move he shook out disliking the feeling of his coat feeling sticky. Since he had never been in the sea or on a beach before it felt weird.

As he started to get up on his feet, to follow her, she started to walk towards the tree-line. She wavered her tail a bit back and forth as she walked, clearly in a happy mood despite the fact that he had been annoyed with her. She just didn't care about such things, she saw no purpose in responding to it, it just made it worse or appealed to the opposites already angered or annoyed mood. She didn't encourage it. Ilona knew that they couldn't move quicker than this at the moment, he was probably far too sore for trotting, so she moved at a comfortable walking pace, the breeze touching their bodies until they walked into the the little forest this island had, and you could already smell the fresh water from the spring, if they just took a few deep breaths, which she did.
It didn't take them long to reach the little spring, as she was very familiar with this landscape and easily could navigate through it. It was basically a little pool of water, with water pouring up from underneath. It was far from enough to qench the thirst of a herd, so it was mostly left alone to lone individuals and smaller animals. But it was best if he took his drink first and then washed the wound, since the water poured out very very slowly, or else he would have to drink bloody water. "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Ilona." She stopped on the far side of the water, looking at him with that kind expression and the smile on her lips. She was always in a happy mood and it seemed to often be contagious, but so far she hadn't seen this stallion smile, so maybe he just didn't like her. That was fine with her though, she couldn't force anyone to like her, and she would never try for it either.

Dante I have no heart, I'm cold inside
She had already moved off by the time he had finished shaking and he was slightly torn to whether it was good thing or not. They would get there quickly which meant he might not have to put up with her company for much longer. Tossing his head slightly he shoved the thought aside strides extending as he pranced forwards after her. Settling in to a trot he followed her quickly catching up the ground he had lost. Staying a stride or two behind her he slowed to a walk much to the relief of his protesting muscles. He remained silent the entire time gaze occasionally drifting to his surrounding as he committed it to memory for future reference. Entering the trees is nostril caught the smell of fresh water which caused his throat to feel like sandpaper. He hadn't realized how thirsty battling the water had left him and now that fresh water filled his nostrils it made the thirst almost unbearable.
Eventually they reached the source and just as he was about to move forwards to the water edge she spoke again. Illona. Gazing at her he allowed himself to give her a faint smile as he repeated the name in his head. "It is a beautiful name. It suits you well." For once there was a trace of possible warmth in the words for they were probably the truest he had ever spoken. A frown formed as he realized something. "I guess I must tell you my name now." Absentmindedly his gaze drifted to the inviting water as he sought to try and figure out if he was willing to give it. It was rare for him to do such a thing but maybe it was different with this mare...with Illona. Making his mind up he once more directed his gaze at the mostly white mare in is company. "My name is Dante."

He surprised her with telling his name, she had not expected that at all, since he had been so cold and annoyed with her earlier, just moments ago. She heard the compliment and warmth in his voice, however small it was, and it warmed her heart, made her smile towards him, but she was still surprised that she had gotten a name to call him. A name that really suited his noble statue, Dante. It had a soft feeling to it, soft but proud. It must have been cute when he had been a colt, because such a name seemed to always have the feel of the personality the stallion had. A cute colt made the name cute, an annoyed stallion made the name sound harsh. Now she didn't really know what it sounded like, since he wasn't as annoyed anymore, or so she thought. "It's nice to meet you Dante. Now drink plenty and be well, no herd stallions will disturb you while you're here." She said softly, looking around her between the trees. She was sure of this, neither Wahale or Risquè visited these parts of the islands that frequently, so the odds of any one of them coming was slim.
She flickered her ears a little, listening to the sounds of the small animals watching them, mainly birds. She seemed distant for a while, almost dreamy, but her black gaze once again turned to him before she also walked up to the pool, but on the other side of it, so that she wasn't in his way, and she dipped her white and pink muzzle to taste the cold water, to take it in and drink. She wasn't dehydrated, just thirsty, it was a very warm day after all, even though it was Dante who was drenched in a mixture of sand, salt and water, not her.

Dante I have no heart, I'm cold inside
There was that angelic smile again and just for the sake of stopping himself returning it again he glanced away from her focusing on the water at his feet. She was surprised as well. He could sense it and he wasn't surprised she felt that way for he had been rude to her ever since they had met till now. He was surprised at himself to be honest. Illona. Again he repeated the name in his head admiring it for a moment before his actions caught up with him. Pushing the thought away his ears flicked back halfway in annoyance directed at himself this time. Her words pulled him through the musings capturing his attention quickly. Head turning his gaze settled upon her a faint frown forming as he considered how he could respond. Part of him wanted to say it was a pleasure also but the rest of him was against doing so. He didn't want to develop any more interest in her if he could help it but he didn't want to appear rude again either. She had helped him after all.
With a slight inclination of the head his frown smoothed away as he offered her a ghost of a smile. "Likewise Illona...and thank you." Head lowering his gaze briefly left her as he began to drink as soon as his muzzle came in contact with the liquid. As much as he wanted to drink quickly due to the relief the cool water gave his throat he forced himself to take his time for he was in no rush. Every now and again his dark orbs would dart to Illona double checking that she was still there. It was only when she began to move that he paused in his drink head raising slightly as he watched her make her way to the other side. For a moment he thought she was going to leave, which caused some mixed emotions on his part, but she came to a stop her own head lowering in preparation to drink. Realizing that he had been staring at her out of admiration he scolded himself mentally his own head ducking again as he resumed drinking. He refused to allow his gaze to drift to her again during the silence that fell while they both quenched their thirst.

Ilona liked this bit of Dante, as he was now. A little more polite and.. happy then when she had picked him up on the beach. She smiled just a bit as she drank of the cold water and felt it rush down in her throat. In this heat, the water felt like wonderful, but she soon raised her head from the water again, content. Currently she was very happy with the whole situation, so she walked away from the water, stopped a few meters away and just stood and started to think about.. well, everything. She was still hoping that her her chief wouldn't be mad for her wandering away, she would return later today after all, she didn't plan to stay away that long, even though she really wanted to see that this Dante was okay before she left, he seemed new to this enviroment after all, but he should be okay by now.
When she saw in the corner of her eye that he was done drinking, she turned her head to look at him, still with that soft smile that seemed to belong there always, like nothing could wipe it away. "What are your plans for visiting the islands, really? Exploration?" She was after all very curious, it was in her nature, and most mainlanders who came her usually had a plan for it, most wanted to explore the islands and then go back, som had even come to join the two herds who lived her. She was born here, you could tell as much on her accent, but she wasn't against mainlanders either, they were just horses too, and worth just as much as every islander that she knew.

Dante I have no heart, I'm cold inside Sensing movement his gaze snapped up at her automatically checking her position for he for a moment had a brief fear the she was leaving. It was a fleeting feeling and seeing her still there he once more relaxed. He didn't register his reaction and it wouldn't be till later when it finally did catch up with him. He allowed himself the liberty of drink for a little while longer for the feel of the cool water was soothing but finally his noble head rose again a few water drops falling from his muzzle. She directed her gaze again with that same breath taking smile on her face. For a moment he did not heed her questions as he stared at her fighting the urge to smile back. Head shaking ever so slightly he forced himself to focus aware that he had been staring at her. It was so hard to remain focus for some reason while she was directing that smile at him. He didn't want to think about why for it would lead to some uncomfortable revelations...ones he didn't want to know. Gaze drifting away from her he pretended to consider her questions while he sought to regain some control again.
Feeling in control with himself once more his dark orbs settled on her just as a response left him. "I came here to explore since I have never taken it upon myself to leave the mainlands before." It was an honest answer he gave her and for a moment he wondered why he had done so. Normally he someone who asked to mind their own business rather rudely. Suppressing a sigh he pushed the thought away head lowering once more so he could wet the gash in the pool hopefully getting rid of some of the blood. Despite the stinging he kept it under for a while before pulling away warm air once more meeting the open wound. "Are there herds here?" The question slipped out for a reason he did not know. He never cared normally about herds for he was a loner. Head turning he glanced at her patiently waiting for her reply doing his best to ignore the slightly uneasy feeling .

His question about the herds made her a bit surprised, she didn't think he was intersted in such matters, most mainlanders didn't care much for the island herds, just as the island herds didn't care much for the mainlanders business. Every herd kept their own business, it was easiest that way, less complications. Tangaroa and Kahukura used to cooperate about some thing though, as the colts and fillies from Tangaroa needed to do their vigil in the whale bones at Kahukuras lands. So far only a few had made the vigil, since there hadn't been so many foals yet, only a few. There was three in Kahukura, two of them was mutated, one of the mutated ones was the heir to the herd, Cyril, a feisty little colt.
"No, not here.. Kahukura isn't far from here, it's the herd I come from, but Tangaroa is further away, and it's leader doesn't like mainlanders, so you better keep away from him." Her voice was filled with deep thoughts and you could literally see her thinking when she stood there, her muzzle still a little wet from the water. As she stood now, her tail trailed on ground, that was how long it was, and it got longer each year, she was just waiting to get stuck somewhere with it. But the talk of herds made her think about her herd again, she didn't know what her chief would think of her meeting another stallion like this, especially since she felt that something was... special about him.

So there were herds. Two in fact. The thought called forth frustration and a an echo of disappointment especially at the fact that she belonged to one of these herds. Did she have a mate? Jealousy spiked at the thought the strength of it startling to him. Head shaking he did his best to banish the emotion refusing to believe that he had felt it. For a moment his gaze drifted from her as he struggled to make sense of his reactions without acknowledging the startling truth. For some reason he liked her. She had captured his attention like no other mare or fellow equine had and he didn't want her to leave. He wanted to know more about her...to spend time with her.
His gaze automatically found its way back to her and for a moment he watched her silently a ghost of a smile appearing. Again, like he found himself often doing, he admired her eyes moving across the slender build of hers. She was lovely something he would happily fight to keep if she was his. She isn't though so abandon such thoughts. You do not need anyone. "Ilona..." He paused savouring the sound of her name before continuing. "..will you be leaving me now?" He hated asking for hurt stirred as well as defiance at the thought of her leaving him. Of her going back to a herd and maybe a mate.

She didn't notice his thoughts, as she could obviously not hear them, and she was a bit occupied with her own thoughts too, since she had a bit to worry about. She hoped that her chief wouldn't ground her or something for this, she didn't know how he would react to the fact that she had been away from the heard for so long now, several hours. It was soon time to get back, before he started to question where she was. But at the same time.. She didn't want to leave Dante. She didn't know why, but she felt a little like she was glued to his side, she wanted to stay here, even though he was a bit moody and quiet. Alas, when he opened his quiet mouth and spoke, she turned her gaze to him once again, her ears pricked forward to look at him. Leave? Why did her ask that is such a gloomy voice? He couldn't care much about her, so why did he sound like that at the thought of her returning to her herd?
"Not at the moment, but I have to get going really soon, or my chief will start looking for me." She wasn't happy about leaving, that much was clear, and she didn't like the fact that Risquè would found her and Dante like this, he might take it like she was cheating on him, the leadstallion. Well, she was not. But she would really like to meet Dante again, she liked him, even though he was moody, could it be possible to meet him again before he left the islands?
