Joey The pretty young thing, as his mother always called him, had left his baby life behind him. He was established now, out of the care of his seniors and the watchful eyes of his peers. This year would be his "graduating" year, a year of curiosity and a year of experience. Joey's bi-colored tail swished lightly against his spotted rump as he slowly paced across the plains, munching as he went, and soaking himself to the bone in the fall rains.
There were very little trees nearby, and any trees that did exist in the plains had lost their leaves by now, what little shelter they could have provided was gone. His dark mane hung in strands as the showers started and stopped while he ate his lunch. At times the sun and the rain would collide and a rainbow could be seen in the distance. The only thing that could make the stallion happier would have to be some form of company.

Silence made the large plains seem empty and lifeless, which was exactly what kind of peace the mare was looking for. Her mane waved backwards as a gust of refreshing wind passed by, a relaxed smile spread across her face as she started to walk again. "Isn't this great Puddle? Just you and me out on an adventure." As always, Puddle, her little black fox companion was sitting happily between her shoulder blades with his big black eyes looking up at her attentively. Autumn smiled cheerfully at him and continued walking, it wasn't long before she felt Puddle's fluffy black pelt rub against her neck. That meant either he sensed someone was in their presence or when he wanted something. And Autumn stopped right in her tracks, she too heard hoof steps around the corner. Along with the munching sound. Another horse had to be nearby. "Did you hear that Puddle?" Puddle purred loudly. Her head swayed around, searching for the fellow equine that might have been in the area. There was. To her right, there stood a fellow equine, grazing happily in the field. 'Hello there."

The red chestnut stallion snorted in annoyance as a piece of land that used to be hard packed dirt turned to mud, so he was standing almost knee-high in the sludgy water. Pulling his hooves out of the mud he relaxed when he came to the formerly grassy areas. The grass had tangled somewhat and provided a more even footing. He trotted on, the tall stallion's black eyes seeing the two equines-stranger equines, not of his herd-and shook his mane, water droplets spraying into the already pouring amtnosphere. Trotting up quickly behind them, Sollero cleared his throat politely.

Autumn's steady gaze on the grazing stranger stallion broke as one ear flicked backwards to the sound of someone clearing their throat. She could feel Puddle's little quick paws quickly turn around on her back, his sharp nails digging into her. Which caused her to let out a small whinny from the little pinches, her head turned first to Puddle, who's back was turned to her and his head cocked at yet, another stallion. Then she looked up and saw him. Yeesh, and I thought this place was empty. The young mare smiled cheerfully at the stranger to seem pleasant, "Howdy sir." It was a while since she had been around more than one creature at a time, it was always just her and Puddle. Yet, she was still glad she had some interaction with other horses, just to get her more use to the flow of things.

"You do have a reason for being here, of course, but I would very much like to know what that reason is." He said, not reacting as the sky opened up-again- and it began to pour. It was always pouring these days, and by this point he'd forgotten what it was like to be dry. His speech had paused. "Seeing as you're trespassing." He said, but his voice was still kind and rather light

Her tail flicked randomly about as a few flies had taken to the sight of the large four-legged beasts. That was one thing she absolutely hated. Flies. Boy were they pests, why did they even fly around her? Couldn't they just go fly around a tree or something? She would never understand bugs, anyway, she stomped her hoof harshly on the grassy ground and let out a frustrated sigh from so many of the flies. Autumn looked back and smiled nervously, then turned her whole body around to face the stallion. "Oh, me and Puddle were just wandering, we love an adventure." All out of nowhere a rain erupted from the baby blue skies, clouds covered up the sun and filled the sky. One thing that got her all excited was rain, rain made her want to prance about and run like the wind, that wouldn't be the proper thing to do, especially infront of a stallion who probably owned the land since he mentioned that she was trespassing. "I'm sorry, I had no idea this was your land, but if it is alright with you, we would like to stay here." The mare pointed to the little black fox on her back, sitting down and sniffing the stallion curiously.

Sollero smiled. "Of course, you are most welcome to stay here." He said. "May I inquire as to your name? I am Sollero." The red chestnut stallion's tail was now thoroughly drenched, thanks to the torrential downpour. It took a surprisingly small amount of time to drench oneself in the rain. Less then a minute-much less in fact.

She smiled back, "Thank you." The mare dipped her head barley and looked around, the once lush green land was now lathered in water, the long tall grass now bowing down. "Sollero, that's a nice name, mine's Autumn." She looked down at her muddy forelegs and let out a short sigh. "Yeah, not too creative uh?" Puddle lifted his snout to the air and sneezed. That made a small giggle arise from her throat, it amused her how funny that little fox was sometimes.

Sollero chuckled at her last comment. "Well, Autumn, welcome to the Nombeko Plains." He welcomed the new herd member, since before today, the herd population had been exactly one. Him, himself, and he had become him and Autumn.

"Hehe, it's a beautiful place alright." Autumn looked around, the gloomy afternoon was slowly changing to night, her favorite time of the day. She loved night, the fireflies that suddenly erupted from the grass and trees, the soft wind blowing through your mane, everything was perfect at night. Which was why she was almost nocturnal, she would take naps once in a while during the day, longer than she would at night, and would take long sprints at midnight. The mare was now a part of a herd, how could she do those things? That was one of the breaks of being a loner, but it would be fun to be a part of a herd, she was once in one when she was born, but with her family being killed in a forest fire...She shook off her mane to stop thinking about it. Puddle hopped off her back when he had enough, he padded on the soft wet grass, seemingly happy he could touch the ground with his paws. The little black fox then sat down underneath the mare's chest in between her two long front legs.

Sollero nodded. "Yes, it is. Even more before the flood." He said. "Of course, we're never short of water to drink this way." He said with a quiet laugh. "So that is one positive of the flood." (Ugh, fail. Sorry, I can't think of anything else right now...I added Autumn to the herd list though.

Autumn's ears flicked, she nodded slightly in agreement. "One? Hehe, I could think of more than that tough guy." She just barley kept herself from explaining how much she loved the rain. Instead she just snorted shaking her head from more flies, well, at least there were less than daytime. But still, the moisture brought more. "So, it's just you and me then. Cus I don't see many others except for that grazing one over there." The mare looked at him and back at the stallion in front of her. (It's alright, I'm a bit low on muse here too (

"Just you and I." Sollero agreed. "The lad over there isn't actually a part of the herd yet. You're the first member." He said with a smile. His eyes were kind and lively as he gestured with his tail on a drier way of travel-a slightly elevated path that meandered to the plains. "Shall we?" He offered the mare. It would be a welcome opportunity to get to know the mare, after all, learn about her past, for she did seem the talkative type.
