No New Posts The Graveyard

Far more morbid in name than nature, The Graveyard is nothing more than a beach where the bleached skeletal remains of a large humpback whale came to rest. The bones have been on the beach for as long as anyone can remember and, as such, several legends have sprouted from its empty jaws. It is a common practice among the natives to bring their first-born colts to The Graveyard to test their bravery and courage in the face of a foreign foe. Colts who successfully stayed the night in the belly of the whale were considered fit to be warriors. Although some still carry on the practice, nowadays the bones of the paikea are used for more recreational purposes.

Off of the eastern shore of Kahukura lies the largest and most famous collection of tide pools in all of the islands. Protected by several offshore rock formations, the tide pools are safely accessible for equines twice a day. When the water recedes and if one watches their hooves, a plethora of sea-life may be viewed at one's pleasure. Take care to watch the waves; many have forgotten to heed nature's warning and been sucked into the sharp undertow, never to be seen again...

Board Description
Kahukura
Literally translated, Kahukura means 'rainbow' and a rainbow it is indeed - of life, that is. Longer than it is wide, Kahukura is the southernmost of the island trio. Arguably the warmest of the three islands, coral reefs and tide pools abound in earnest off of its fine sand beaches. For the most part, this island is all jungle and sand with little variance in the terrain. Access to freshwater is hard to find, so many make the short trip to Hihiri for daily supplementation. When it does rain here (which is often, as it is for all the islands) the water tends to collect in a smooth-rocked basin in the center of the island. When the basin is full, it could take months to seep back into the earth.

This land has been claimed by Risquè.
