Crossing Post [/i] Brisè looked at the clear waters sprawling with life, she had no idea why she had visited the mainland, but she was quick to leave. She was sure for the islands. She stepped forward, her hoof dipping into the cool water. The mid-day heat bore down upon her back, and even with the season being spring, it brought summer like temperatures.
Bri pushed herself out into the waters, kicking steadily, this was going to be a long five miles. She pushed herself, muscles coiling under her dark pelt as she moved, her legs already growing tired after two miles. Her nose stung from the water that splashed into it, and she started to slow, breathing rough as the waves pushed against her. She probably wouldn't return to the mainland, this journey wasn't fun.
Her breathing became more labored as she swam on, the islands closer but still far out of reach. Her body spasming slightly as her leg brushed a sharp coral reef. Bri pushed herself the other way but this one was huge, and her left foreleg scraped against the sharp coral and split it open. Bri gnashed her teeth together, water pouring into her mouth and nose. She coughed and spit, more water splashing into her eyes, her whole head stinging as she blinked furiously, trying to see. Was she still heading towards the islands? A wave pushed her under the clear water, throwing her body this way and that. Bri thrashed through the water, screaming out- or trying to, only to swallow more water that made her throat sting even worse as the current pushed her back up. Bri gasped for air, her eyes fluttering as she looked at the islands.
The waves helped Bri on the rest of the way there, as she could only really kick with three legs now that the one had a deep gash through it. Finally, her hooves hit soft sand and she burst out of the water and dropped herself into the sand, her leg still bleeding. Her body shook and twitched, exhausted she was. It hadn't been this hard the first time, and she couldn't make herself stand up if she wanted to. The sun was already drying up her sodden pelt.

» Cain dove at the wave as it crashed and swept onto the shore. He laughed aloud as his fore contacted the thin stretch of water and connected with the wet sand below. A small mist flew up and hit his chest -- a few stray drops dotting his nose and forehead -- upon impact. His hinds followed and planted just behind his fores as he lifted off again in a bound. He continued his joyous frolic along the shoreline in a long-strided canter. Spring ocean breezes brushed along his massive body and cooled the areas where water had splashed. His nares remained in an almost constant flare as he tasted and enjoyed the breezes as they came and went. It was a glorious day to be outside and a glorious day to live! He saw a wave breaking just ahead and he planted his hinds, lifted his fores, and rounded his body into an arc. He soared momentarily and kicked his hind out in a buck as his fores crashed onto the foamy remains of a wave. The water refreshed him once again.
» His antics brought him pretty far along the beach and his hide was thoroughly dampened with sweat by the time he finally slowed his pace. He breathed heavily and laughed as he brought his legs into a leggy trot, moving out of reach of the waves and onto dry sand. The sinking terrain and added effort quickly brought him from his trot to a walk. His head bobbed energetically as he pushed along the beach, his head constantly turning this way and that, red eyes taking in the sights. The bright blues and greens. Spring had reached them. Yes, indeed.
» Farther down on the horizon, he could see what looked to be a large piece of driftwood imbedded in the sand there. He lowered his head and narrowed his eyes in challenge. He bounded forward and moved back closer to the water, where the sand was firm and moist. He galloped forward, head held high, seeking to spring high over the wood. The closer he got, however, the less like wood the object seemed. And then he saw the white and the red. His eyes widened and his breath caught mid stride. "Aw, not ag'in..."His pace doubled, closing the distance between he and the mare quickly.
» He slid to a halt a couple yards away and lowered his head submissively, making sure to give her ample space and trying his best not to startle her. His eyes ran along her bloody foreleg. His voice came quietly, "Got yuh'self tangled out in de reef, did'ja? Jus' lie still, you' be alright." Truthfully, he had no way of knowing that. He moved forward a couple steps, looking at her striped body. It was like nothing he had seen before. Who was this mare? He thought of the dark mare from the other day. What was with the sudden rise in accidents? His voice returned, speaking more to himself than to her, "Dunno what y'all are thinkin' gon' out dat far in de waters..." He sighed and watched the mare with concern.

'Got yuh'self tangled out in de reef, did'ja? Jus' lie still, you' be alright' said a musky voice. Bri's ears flicked back and she moaned, rolling herself up on four shaky legs like a over grown foal. 'Dunno what y'all are thinkin' gon' out dat far in de waters...' he said, looking at her with concern crossing his white face. Her aqua eyes almost popped out of her head when she saw the large, powerful looking stallion stroll up. He had bright red eyes and bright red tribal markings along his shoulder. He sure was something...
"Oh, yeah, I'll survive." Bri said with a laugh, lifting her shoulders in a shrug. "I just crossed over from the mainlands, felt it was time for a change," she said with a slight nod. "Oh- I'm Brisè, or Bri," she added with a small smile, flicking her wet tail.
OOC: I'm so sorry it's this short, they usually aren't :/ [/size]
