Board Description
Ahi Waha
Literally meaning 'fire mouth', Ahi Waha dominates the southern portion of Tangaroa. A series of smaller, active volcanoes rest at the southernmost base of the much larger, dormant volcano. Ahi Waha is both respected and feared by the native population. While it hasn't erupted in years, the massive shield volcano is believed to burst only when the population has wronged nature. The smaller beds at its base are constantly spitting fire but are watchable from a safe distance. Scaling Ahi Waha is pleasant; surrounded by wilderness on the northern side, rare shrubs and beautiful views of both the islands and the Homeland are what attracts souls to to come here. However, it is best to take care. The trails can be treacherous and, with no accessible water sources, getting stuck here can be fatal.
